My husband and I travelled with 2 other couples fo enjoy some mountain biking over the weekend of the 4th. Being folks who like to get sweaty and muddy, we have stayed in many cabins, state park lodges and have camped all over the country. We definately do not need posh accomodations to have fun.
This cabin, however, was unacceptable. The location (near Brevard and Dupont forest) was great and actual lot that the cabins sit on is lovely. but our cabin, and those around us were mobile homes to which some kind of "cabin wood" had been attached. When you walk in, the place seems reasonably clean but the place obviously cannot sleep 6,which the owner/ manager (who was very nice) emphatically reassured us it could.
Aside from the layout beign so narrow (and the kitchen being so small) that you can't access the bathroom or master bath if someone is cooking in the kitchen (!) the most annoying thing was the BEDS!!! They were horrible--and everyone in the group agreed. My husband and I had these ancient twin beds that were so awful....when one of us would turn over in the night the squeaking and shimmying of the bed would wake the other up! You could feel EVERY spring in the mattress and they were so saggy and ridiculously old I wondered if some governing body (health dept?) might have something to say about it.
ALL of the beds were equally awful. They also had these really gross bed covers--eeoou! There was no deck to hang out on --back door is high in the air....there was only a half rotted stair landing to set coolers on.
That said, the biking was amazing and good times were had by all....even if the beds didn't do much to help our bodies recuperate each night! If you have a small party and are desperate for a place to stay, you could consider this. I would explore other options first though if you can.
