Description: Hunter-Gatherer Brewery has been brewing and serving classic ales since 1995. Starting in 2015, we will regularly feature cask-conditioned ales served from wood kilderkins made by Alastair Simms, the only master cooper in the United Kingdom. Michael Jackson, aka the "Beer Hunter", visited the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery in 1997. He wrote that the Hunter-Gatherer is "the kind of place CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) members might enjoy. The beer is the hero, rather than the brewery being an afterthought. In the U.S., And even sometimes in Britain, the latter is too often the case." Michael Jackson was the best beer writer and critic the world has known. A compliment from Michael Jackson is as meaningful as it gets in the brewery world.

Initially, my wife and kids were a bit concerned when we pulled up, but the food was fantastic. Don't pass this one up!

Good value for the money. Outside dining area available. Service initially a little slow then OK. Reasonable menu choice. Attracts a college type crowd in keeping with its location.

The only thing we've had here we didn't care for was the very hard crust on the pizzas. The beer braised chicken with grits was amazing. The grits were done like polenta. We've had duck eggrolls, scallops, and desserts that were all really good. Much of the food is locally grown and the grits are milled down the street.

I went there for my Dad's birthday, he will only go to local places. This one was theone of the best I've been to. Just great! The service was very good, the food was amazing. I had the smoked chicken ravioli, highly recommend this dish. Everything is made from scratch, most of the food is from local sources. They also have a variety of beer. Definitely worth going to if you're in the Columbia area.

The interior was very interesting> did not try the food this time, but the beer that we tried that they brew was very good.
