Description: Hunter-Gatherer Brewery has been brewing and serving classic ales since 1995. Starting in 2015, we will regularly feature cask-conditioned ales served from wood kilderkins made by Alastair Simms, the only master cooper in the United Kingdom. Michael Jackson, aka the "Beer Hunter", visited the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery in 1997. He wrote that the Hunter-Gatherer is "the kind of place CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) members might enjoy. The beer is the hero, rather than the brewery being an afterthought. In the U.S., And even sometimes in Britain, the latter is too often the case." Michael Jackson was the best beer writer and critic the world has known. A compliment from Michael Jackson is as meaningful as it gets in the brewery world.

Only a few blocks off the USC campus. The goat cheese salad was excellent. Good size portion, great flavor combinations. Really good pale ale on tap. The service was quick and pleasant.

Our family stopped in for lunch at Hunter after a visit to USC. They had only one waitress that was covering most of the restaurant. She was doing the best she could, but did create some slow service. I got the BLT which was just okay. I wish I would have tried some of their beers, they looked like they might have been pretty good. Its a micro brewery and they had 4 available. Overall, it was okay. I would give it another chance if back in the area again.

Did a mid-week dinner here with coworkers traveling to Columbia on business.

We shared the ESB Pimento cheese to start. Really good stuff.

I did the lamb gyro, which was good. My companions did a pizza and a smoked chicken ravioli. The pizza was not the greatest but the pasta was quite good.

I also had an in-house Pale & Wheat. Both solid.

We will come back.

Initially, my wife and kids were a bit concerned when we pulled up, but the food was fantastic. Don't pass this one up!

Good value for the money. Outside dining area available. Service initially a little slow then OK. Reasonable menu choice. Attracts a college type crowd in keeping with its location.
