“Beautiful museum, world-class exhibits!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2014

Have been a member and patron of the CMA for many years as it is one of Columbia's premier attractions. The museum is a lovely space and the world-class exhibits are fabulous and exciting. The museum has also become a central figure in the resurgence of life and activity on Main Street and in Columbia, in general, as it is always a main participant and/or host of regular and special festivities-- Arts and Draughts, First Thursdays, ice skating in Dec., it's own Galas and exhibit openings.
CMA has become a generous and vital contributor as a citizen of Columbia, regularly offering free admission and many educational and fun, creative, programs for children and adults.
And the museum shop is a great place to find wonderful original gifts!

“Fine small Art Museum”

Visiting on a Saturday in February, we found the museum uncrowded with a very interesting special exhibition of Japanese Art Deco.

“this is a really neat art musuem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2014

I went there several times and the last time was just in February of this year. If you like all sorts of art you will enjoy a visit to this museum. For its size it has some really fine pieces! Of course it is not the national art gallery but for its size you will enjoy it!

“Amazing for a city this size”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2014

The museum is impressive with a beautiful building and very well designed galleries. The permanent collection has one of the finest medieval and renaissance collections in the country. The changing exhibit have been impressive. Recently all of the exhibits have been worth a trip. With the Zoo this is worth a visit.

“Between 'Average' and 'Very Good' in reality - the prime reason for our visit to Columbia”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2014

We saw a superb exhibition of Classic Impressionist Art, but with too few Monet's (for example) and had to run the gauntlet of The Guides, who seem to believe that the louder they shout the better the experience - WRONG !!

They (and I use that word deliberately) were guiding groups of folks of up to 6-10, who did not seem to be hearing-impaired and were able to crowd around their Guide, but spoke as if they were trying to project for 6 City Blocks.

Think, please ? You're a Guide, not a Town Crier.

Really badly affected our enjoyment of the Exhibition. I walked out several times to avoid the sonic assault, returning through another access point getting behind (and away from) the Offendee.

Secondary highlight and unexpected was the small Exhibition/Display of local Students' work outside the Main Hall. Very creative works and highly thought provoking. Many Congratulations to all of them.
