Stayed in March and April on two legs of an extended southern trip. The decor is exceptional, the desk staff an exemplar of courtesy and helpfulness, the complimentary breakfast delivered to our room delightful. The two rooms we had (different each leg) were each finely appointed. We will return.

We stayed four nights. I enjoyed the breakfast brought to our room, my only (minor) complaint being that they do not carry non-dairy creamer for those who can't have dairy. The soundproofing isn't the best, but a fountain runs constantly in the lobby, along with rat-pack-era music that we found enjoyable. It was good to be at Five-Points where we could walk to restaurants, shops, and especially a music store (Pechnells?) where we got some sheet music, a metronome, and a slide whistle! Concierge service was good--very welcoming. Coffee in the a.m., snacks in the afternoon, and a glass of wine in the evening. Love the bar of soap with the hole in it.

I stayed here for a night while visiting USC and cant tell how impressed I am. The room was little smaller than usual but still was comfortable. The location is very convenient: with in walking distance of USC, restaurants, Starbucks and stores. Plenty of parking on the back and friendly staffs. Complimentary wine at the evening and free breakfast at the morning is a plus too.

The Inn at Claussens's Is my go to when in Columbia on business. It is in the college district so the bar scene is close by which may not be for everyone. Several great resturants are also within walking distance. Breakfast served at your door each morning which is a nice touch. I found the rooms very nice and comfortable.

We stayed here for my stepson's graduation at Fort Jackson , which was 15 minutes away. I absolutely loved this quant, boutique style hotel. i stayed here with my husband, in room. room # 209 the complimentary breakfast, parking and if I were greatly appreciated. The front desk, was always ready to answer any of my questions an be helpful . Ur room was a king, second floor, very on romantic, the other room we had with some other family members was a dbl queen, very modern, and clean. It has really interesting features in decor, and a plus, it had a patio room #108
They let us use there umbrella an blanket. we wanted to stay one more night, just because it was such a relaxing atmosphere, but unfortunately , they were fully committed. I seen the review about the train nearby, it was not bad, we heard it, but with it went by so fast, it was not a big deal at all. Maybe it went by twice , but it did not bother any of us. I would definitely come back to this Inn. The five points area s great, always something to do, eat, or just walk around. You should definitely try this place.

Modern rooms in an old bakery building with great staff. It's just fun! Love the decor. You order breakfast the night before and it's delivered to your room. There is an evening cocktail hour with a complimentary drink, cheese and crackers, just a nice end to the day. Small work out room but enough to get a good workout. Great location in the trendy 5 Points area, easy access to campus. Were here on college visit and will definitely return! Columbia has a lot of character with it's older buildings and this hotel feels like the poster child for that charm. If my duaghter chooses USC this will be our regular spot. Got a reservation on Hotwire for $89.

Room Tip: Don't miss Pauly's Front Porch, just a few blocks away. Featured on Diners, Dives and Drive...

We spent two enjoyable nights at Claussen's and liked our room with the cheerful color, newest of the fixtures and the proximity to the University of South Carolina campus, State House and five corners or points. Having breakfast in our room was a nice feature and there is complementary wine and cheese and crackers. There is free wi fi and plenty of free off street parking. The staff was friendly and right next door is the Cellar on Greene Restaurant which was very good. There was an appetizer, entree and dessert for $22.00. The Riverbank Botanical Garden and Zoo is a must. The complex has two distinct features of the gardens and then a tram will take you to the zoo. The SC State Museum was also enjoyed as there are many features for the young and mature. We also drove about twenty minutes to the Little Pigs Barbecue on 4927 Alpine. This is the in place where the locals have their casual barbecue, chicken, pork chops and fish. It was a fascinating place.
