Wanting to know more of this beautiful stretch of Carolina coast, we were advised to call the lady who is a part of this genteel culture. Dottie greeted us as familiar friends. Quaintly soft -spoken and very knowledgeable about her island, we rode comfortably through shaded dirt roads to plantations that held many secrets, many of which Dottie knew and shared. She took us to the beautiful Presbyterian church and it's cemetery. This tour was history, ghost tale, architecture and beauty. With a light snack of lemonade and benne wafers, Dottie proved herself a top rate tour guide.

Dottie has lived most of her life in Edisto, so she has seen everything grow, and how the people have tries to keep the island simple. As for the time and money, i can think of no better way to have spent it. GREAT JOB

We enjoyed this tour very much and learned a lot about Edisto Island in two hours. Our tour guide took us by van to the Presbyterian Church (the oldest congregation in S.C.) and took us inside the beautiful building. She shared interesting stories about the church and people buried in the graveyard. She also told us the history of several other churches in the area. We went to three plantations. A movie based on one of Nicholas Sparks' books was filmed at one of the homes. During a break, our guide served us lemonade and benne wafers. She was very interesting, answered our questions, and was very considerate. We recommend this tour.

Ms. Dottie is great! She grew up on the island and knows her history. We went to several plantations and churches and listened to great stories the whole time. Both of our kids (10 and 6 yr old boys) really enjoyed the tour. Don't miss this one

We just loved the tour Miss Dottie gave us of the island. Her knowledge of the history, her sweet disposition, and her love of sharing made our tour with her just special. Take this tour early in your stay on Edisto so that you can go visit (or revisit) places she points out and speaks of during your tour. Her Benne cookies (from her own mother's recipe!) were a wonderfully delicious treat at the end of our time with her.
