“A Reasonable Value”
Reviewed 11 March 2012

We stayed here on the way to Florida. It was a reasonable value for the money. The room is smaller than all the present generation of hotels. However, the room seemed clean, and was freshly painted. It was outfitted with the newer style of triple sheeting. Since we stayed on the side away from from the interstate, it was a quiet night's sleep. It is an older style building with outside access. The breakfast was fine with a moderate selection. The check-in and out was efficient and the staff was friendly enough.

We've stayed at many Fairfield Inns over the years, but this one seems a little run down and in need of updating. It has a confusing layout, making it somewhat hard to find one's room. The room was small, even though we were upgraded to a "suite" (not my idea of a suite at all). The free breakfast was average.

The hotel was clean and quiet; good value for the money. Am not a big fan of exterior corridors, but there was not a lot of foot traffic past my window, so it wasn't too bad. However, the bottom fitted sheet was anything but fitted!! Woke up several times during the night to find myself face down on a bare mattress. UGH!! Tried several times to re-align the sheet so it would stay in place without success. While the mattress was comfortable, I wondered how many other faces occupied that bare space prior to mine.

Had the same experience in the Fairfield in Marion OH last year. Am reluctant to try another Fairfield property as I'm afraid I'll have the same experience. It's a shame because the hotels are clean, the staff friendly and the value is there.

First of all, I would like to say thank you for staying with us and for the positive comments that you did make regarding the cleanliness, value and our staff! We truly appreciate your business and want to make you comfortable and feel welcome when you stay with us. As far as the issue with the sheets, I am terribly sorry you had this problem but I would like to inform you that this has been addressed. New and larger sheets have been purchased! We thank you for taking the time to give your feedback as we are only able to make changes and address concerns when we are aware of them. The Fairfield Inn in Florence has a new General Manager and we have made some really positive changes. Once again, I do apologize for any inconvenience you experienced while staying with us. However, I do hope that you will come back and give us another chance.

I stayed on the enclosed 3rd floor. The room was clean, but small. I'm surprised Marriott hasn't dropped this property. This has to be a converted motel and it looks like it. Definately not what you would expect from a Marriott.

Room Tip: If you are going to stay here, get a room on the 3rd floor.

We thought a Marriott property would be pretty nice. We were wrong. Our room was tiny and smelled like urine and stale cigarette smoke (in a non smoking room). The bed was terrible and the room old and dirty. The only plus was the free breakfast which was ok. Thankfully it was only for one night.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel as a stop over on the way to Charleston. We have stayed at other Marriott hotels before and always enjoyed this hotel brand. We read the reviews for this hotel and thought that since we were going to be on the 3rd floor, it would be ok. The staff was very nice, and the bed was comfortable but the drain in the bathroom didn't work properly, I did not like the motel feel and the breakfast was not good. My husband looks forward to the waffles and I don't know what was wrong with the batter they provided but the waffles tasted awful.
With all the options in the area, I felt like $75 was way too much for this hotel. Because of this stay, I will not stay at a Fairfield Inn again.

We most always stay at Marriott properties and have stayed at several Fairfield Inns. Arrived here after a long motor trip and checked in. First shock was the lobby ... small and kind of old. Took elevator to second floor and found ourselves outside on a balcony to get to rooms (started getting really suspicious). Found room and opened door and was amazed!!! Room was so tiny, we thought it was a closet. Seems like this property was an old Holiday Inn or something. We immediately went back to desk, cancelled and found there were Marriott Courtyard, Spring Hill and Residence Inns across the street. Went to Courtyard where we got a good rate (only $20 more than the ancient Fairfield) and had a good night. We e-mailed Marriott the next day and were informed that the "Fairfield Inns" are mostly old properties and the "Fairfield Inn and Suites" are newer, larger ones. We will not make this mistake again.

Room Tip: Clean and OK, but tiny rooms and small. You get what you pay for.
