We picked this hotel because it is on I95, is part of Marriott , and because they accept dogs but it was the worst place I have stayed in many years. I should have read the TA reviews more carefully. It doesn't look so bad when you pull in, but the lobby is small and the first thing you see is a sign saying the wifi was broken. There is one crummy elevator and then an OUTSIDE walkway to the room. The only good thing I can say about the room is that the carpet looked fairly new, although it was really ugly. The walls were badly cracked, the furniture was shabby, the bathroom was tiny and old looking. The tub/shower had an old fiberglass liner and the sink was in the room in an alcove. The room had a musty smell and the heating unit didn't work properly. You could not adjust the heat, which was hot, but the only alternative was to turn it off altogether. The curtains didn't fully cover the window and there was traffic noise from the highway next to the hotel. Marriott should definitely take its name off this place. It is an embarrassment to the brand. And they charged $35 for our 10 pound dog, so it didn't even turn out to be a cheap rate considering the location. Don't stay here!

Room Tip: The first and second floor rooms have doors that open directly to the parking lot.

I read the reviews on this motel after booking to take advantage of a Marriott promotion. We found the room small, but clean and quiet and the front desk staff very friendly and helpful! There are several decent places to eat and shopping within walking distance. The pizza place is unique. Overall this is a good place for a short stay. I got a lower price by rebooking and nearby comparable places might be less expensive. The breakfast was small, but good and there were check in cookies and good internet.

Room Tip: First floor rooms provide front door parking.

On the drive home to NY from South Florida, we had been on the road for about 9 hours when we decided to turn off in Florence, South Carolina to spend the night. I saw the Fairfield Marriott sign from I-95 and as a Marriott Rewards member, knew we'd be very comfortable there. Great location just off the interstate and right on the lot of a large mall. Nice room with extremely comfy bed, and a fabulous breakfast in the morning which is included in the rate.

Upscale Super 8-type hotel. This was a resting stop for us and a decent place to stop because they took dogs. PROS: good location off I-95; they take all size dogs; Marriott quality towels; nicer furnishings; clean; close to restaurants and shopping; not outrageously priced (extra $20 for a dog); didn't smell like a dog room and enough grassy areas for dogs. CONS: I consider this a motel because you access the doors from the outside; thin walls and ceilings so you can hear what's happening upstairs and next door; front door didn't seal properly so there was a very slight draft; it definitely didn't feel like a Marriott. GOOD FOOD three lights down at Percy & Willie's!

Very convenient, clean, and friendly. Front desk staff was very nice and accommodating.

Good breakfast with hot food - not just a continental breakfast.

Good dining options nearby (Outback Steakhouse. Mellow Mushroom, etc)

We will stay here again.
