They have Jenga! what more do you need to know?! Fun place that seemed to have a local vibe. We enjoyed the surf videos and played games before it got too packed.

My family and I came to Charleston to take in the sights, see the old town, to enjoy our family time. And we came across this little place called Surf Bar at Folly Beach. Everyone was very polite and extra friendly (awesome atmosphere). What was the most surprising was the food. OMG, we had been paying $$$ to eat at some of the well known places in Charleston; well the really $$$$ places was no comparison to the excellent food we had at Surf Bar. The hummus was the best I have ever had. The Wings had a great taste and actually had meat on them. The cheese steak sandwich was to die for. And even my PICKY 16 year old son fell in love with their Fish sandwich and fries. I will definitely be coming back to this little place. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Went here for dinner with the family. Inside it's exactly what you want a surf bar to look and feel like. The food is below average, but typical for a dive bar. Unfortunately the service is horrid. The wait staff was unpleasant, slow, and could not have cared less. We sat at the table for 15 minutes with all of our drinks completely empty. The kids had fries with their meals. She didn't bring ketchup or comeback to see how everything was. So eventually I just asked the table next to us if we could use theirs. We had to find the waitress to get refills, to get our check as well as get our credit card back! And as we looked around, we saw we weren't the only ones just waiting for the waitress. We were there on a Monday night, it was busy, but not slammed. Do yourself a favor, if you want a great burger, go to Rita's!

Came here with a big group of friends to watch the World Cup finals.
Food was very good, we got the chicken Philly with fries.
Service was laughably bad, but they were filled to the brim busy.
Good locals bar, not much to look at outside of that. We plan on coming back.

We've dined and had drinks here several times. It's a gathering place for the younger set but we empty nesters didn't feel out of place. If you are in the mood for tasty burgers and similar fare, look no farther. The Surf Bar is actually several blocks from the beach but that is no big deal. The decor is beachy - you might even say rustic - but that is no big deal. But the parking scarcity is a big deal, and Surf Bar is directly across the street from Town Hall so illegal parking is frequently ticketed in this neighborhood. Deputize part of your party to go in and get a table while your driver cruises for a legal space on nearby streets. It is crowded at peak hours, so we like to show up in the mid afternoon. If the weather permits, try the outside covered seating area. Seating inside is limited, but a better option on hot days. Surf Bar has a good selection of beers to choose from. Oh yes, if you're not the designated driver, try a Pain Killer or two. At the risk of being sexist, let me say that the waitresses are attractive. Ours was a bit inattentive, but we didn't mind. A good time was had by us, and you will too, at the Surf Bar.
