We were travelling with several children and rented a two bedroom condo.

We planned our vacation at the last minute during summer season.

The place was not the worst of the options we had, but it sure could use some improvement.
All condo's are beachfront, with a great view of the ocean. It has a pleasant deck with a large pool and a kiddy pool. The beach is as you can expect in the area (small, crowded, and full of regulations).

The building is old and worn, but there is a maintenance staff that makes a good attempt at keeping things clean and going. The elevators have a damp and sweaty smell, but I think that is expected, as they continously transport beachgoers up and down 16 floors.

We did have a bad experience with one of the elevators (the one on the right, as you face the elevators that go down to Floor 1 only):
When we reached the 10th floor, myself and another person first got off. Then, the outer door slammed shut and stayed shut! I raced downstairs to get security, which promptly came up and used a key to open the outer door. After everyone got off, he released the key and then the outer door slammed shut again. I hate to think what would have happened if that door would have slammed shut on a small child- at best broken bones....
The next day the elevator was in service again. When I discussed our experience with the staff a the realty office they expressed some concern and promised to check with the elevator company, but they had no interest in taking my name to follow up with it.

The resort is in a good location and has good rates, and you will get a decent beach and pool experience. But I would be careful with the elevators.
Definitely look at other options if they are available and are willing to spend a little more money.

My family has stayed here several times and have always been pleased with the accomadations. We have rented one bedroom and also a 3 bedroom depending on how many we had in our party. The kitchen was spacious with a bar area to sit at kitchen counter plus a dining room table to sit more. There was 2 pull out sofas and had a washer/dryer which really helped. We stayed on the 10th floor and OMG the view was the best thing! Loved just being able to see the ocean for miles. You could even see schools of fish from this view! We even saw a bird fly right by our balcony with a fish in its claw! There is a wonderul indoor pool and an outdoor pool as well as a great gift shop. I will defianly stay here again and would recommend anyone to give it a try :)

Room Tip: Always look for reviews before you book

Found a little Gem of a place in Garden City SC . It is called the Royal Garden Resort. The rooms are all ocean front. The rooms are all condo's from 1 bedroom to three bedrooms. All the condo's are individually owned and are rented out by different realty companies but the majority of the condo's are rented out by Sea Breeze realty. This is the the company that we used. We rented a nice two bedroom condo for a week in August for $1160.00 this included linens, towels, taxes and resort fee's. The condo was very nice. The condo's are also equipped with a washer and dryer. The resort had a nice outdoor and indoor pool and also a jacuzzii. There is a small restaurant at the resort that sells hamburgers, hot dogs, and various other foods. They also offer beer and mixed drinks. If you want to stay at an upscale place for a reasonable price, I suggest that you give the Royal Garden Resort a try.

Room Tip: Price on condo is negotiable

Very narrow small rooms and bathrooms. Great ocean view but small everything. Not as clean as expected hair all over floor in bathroom. Would not put my little toe in any of their pools as they were filthy and finite was all chipped out. Will not stay here again.

We stayed here just for a short time. Yes it was old. Everything in myrtle beach seems old. They had great beach access, oversized ocean front rooms, a bar/pizza place at the hotel. There is an outdoor pool and hot tub, they have an indoor pool, sauna, baby pool and HUGE indoor hot tub. We are considering buying one of the units on a permanent basis. I can also say the u it you get is a big difference. Most units are owned by individuals not a hotel where one person owns the whole thing. The original owner was smart and made each room a condo and sold them all off. Point being each individual owner cares for their unit, renovates their unit and decides when new carpet, tile, kitchen and baths are put in. So some. It's are very run down and some are gorgeous.
We will most likely be back again.
