“attend every month”
Review of The Comedy Zone

The Comedy Zone
Reviewed 23 March 2013

I love comedy. I attend the Greenville ComedyZone shows every month. Where else in the Greenville area can you see two comedians in one night for under $15 per person? The comedians have been very good to excellent every time. I have never been dissappointed.
My only complaint is that I would like the organizers to post some type of rating on their website that would give the public an idea of how raw a particular comedian is. There have been some hilarious comedians that rarely used obscence language and sexual inuendo and there have been others that used vulgar 4 and 7-letter words in practically every sentence in addition to constant sexual references and gestures. Currently, attendees need to be prepared for anything.
The shows are almost always sold out, so buy your tickets online ahead of time. The service fee for advance tickets is very small and buying tickets in advance is the only way to ensure that you can get in.
The venue is in an area of many fine restaurantss as well as the standard chain restaurants, so there are plenty of places closeby to eat before of after the show. There is ample parking right outside the venue and comfortable chairs with tables inside. It is plain and no frills, but that is certainly one of the reasons it is not outrageously priced.
If you want an upscale atmosphere and are OK with the corrrespondingly high ticket prices, stick to visiting comedians at The Peace Center downtown. If you are looking for good affordable comedy, the ComedyZone is the place in the Greenville area.

After the Comedy Zone moved to Pelham Road, the atmosphere has changed significantly. The venue that was in downtown Greenville, was much more intimate and more like a "club" atmosphere located in the basement under Jersey Mike's. Now they are located in a large old bar behind Atlanta Bread Company on Pelham Road. The reason for the move was free parking and location close to restaurants. However, the ladies restrooms have restroom stall doors hanging by a thread....without proper locks on the doors, toilet paper missing, and overall the appearance of dirty, nasty bathrooms. The entire place STINKS of smoke. And, when you leave....you STINK of smoke as well!...your clothes smell of smoke even though there is no smoking. There is no kitchen like the other venue so no food is available, the bar is smaller and they do not have the same bartender. It is just one large room, not the two room seperation like in Greenville which was nice for entering the venue....there is just something missing with this new set up. Not sure what needs to be done to fix this place up....but a lot has been promised since it opened and not much has been done. The bottom line must be money...it's probably a lot cheaper to have this place on Pelham and it looks like it......CHEAP. The four acts that we have seen there have been disappointing as well. We will be rethinking about how many times we will be going here in the future.
