Owner description: The Greenville Downtown Airport's Runway Park at GMU, which is free to use and open to the public during daylight hours, has an educational amphitheater, exercise "Perimeter Taxiway" and walking "Runways", as well as aviation themed playground equipment, a swing set, a Bi-plane "Climber", a picnic hangar, a Cessna 310 static display and restrooms. A 15-foot cross section of a Boeing 737 fuselage is the handicapped accessible park entrance. Throughout the park are education of aviation signs which cover items like: What runway markings mean, about air traffic controllers language, how aircraft achieve flight, parts of aircraft, careers in the aviation industry, General Aviation aircraft uses, gauges on aircraft instrument panels, how weather affects flight, and some aviation history etc... We are now seeking donations to level and pave the park's parking lot.

We really liked this place. Very nice playground which is divided based on children's age. The restaurant was excellent food but the service was slightly slow. We'd definitely go back. We went on Friday evening and saw only one airplane in over 2 hours.

We love the Airport Park at the Runway Cafe! I have a toddler and two nephews that are under 5, and this park never disappoints.

You can bring your own lunch or order something from the cafe (good food for adults but not worth it for kiddos). The planes coming and going are the perfect entertainment as the kids play on the playground. It's not a huge playground but the area surrounding it that is fenced in is very large. And it's nice to not have to worry about kids escaping since it is fenced in.

I think they had a couple of picnic tables but you could bring your own mat to be safe. We will definitely be back!

It's obvious Greenville cares about its airports and general Aviation. They have developed a fantastic park for kids and right next to it a restaurant that you can have a bite to eat and watch planes take off and land. Perfect setup! We will definitely fly in to get lunch in the future.

Our kids came up and we enjoyed their visit and of course the 3 beautiful grandchildren.
It was my daughter in law who found the Cafe on the Airfield and thus we found the
"Greenville Downtown Airport Park"...what fun!!!

The park is small but growing they have a vision and its great!! The grandkids loved loved loved playing on all of the park swings and climbs and general fun toys. You can bring roller blades or a scooter and they have a lovely kid size track to do circles on and its all fenced in and safe AND the planes are taking off and landing right there!! What an unexpected delight!!

Be sure to plan an outing - with food, a fun park and planes...how can you go wrong?!

We met some friends here and the next thing you know 3 hours had passed. Lunch was good with a number of kid friendly plates available. 2 walls of the restaurant are all glass which offers great views of the air strip. After the meal you have to visit the park. Don't just explore the playground area take advantage of your imagination and use the runway and mini stage at the end.
