We spent 4 days in Greenville for our 31st anniversary and were absolutely amazed at what they have done to revitalize the downtown area. We've traveled the world, but I've never seen a cleaner city (except for Singapore) or one that has made everything useful and new.

The Falls Park on the Reedy was lovely and refreshing and peaceful, yet all around there were tons of options for activities and food. I understand that before they redid this area into a park and gardens, that there was a concrete bridge over the falls so they weren't even visible.

By the time we had strolled along the river, crossed the awesome Liberty Bridge and took the steps back up to Main Street, I had decided I wanted to move there. And so we shall ... we sign the contract tonight for the land.

Being a native of Greenville, I have sincerely enjoyed the massive undertaking to reclaim the birthplace of my hometown - transforming a long-forgotten but important piece of local history into an simply incredible, attractive gem for everyone to freely enjoy. Falls Park on the Reedy has become not only a major regional attraction for visitors to downtown, but one of my very favorite places to relax or take a leisurely stroll. The award-winning Liberty Bridge is an attraction in itself - an icon within the city - but it blends very well into the natural surrounding setting. Located in the heart of downtown, visitors are amazed by the natural setting the park offers, literally minutes away from dozens of great restaurants and art galleries. I highly recommend visiting Falls Park on the Reedy next time you're in the Greenville area.

Having visited many of the tourist sites in South Carolina, I recently visited downtown Greenville for the first time the weekend of August 3d and was very pleasantly surprised. My daughter found the first of several hidden bronze mice on the fountain outside the Hyatt hotel. More are hidden along Main Street and looking for them was just one of the ways downtown Greenville and the Falls Park area is a fun place for families. Local actors gave a free Shakespeare performance in the park, and the Liberty Bridge provided an excellent view both of the falls and a fireworks display (apparently following a minor league baseball game). The Falls Park area is beautifully landscaped with lots of walking paths, and the surrounding downtown area is full of restaurants and art shops. Before the night was over we ignored the caution signs and wandered onto the rocks in the Reedy. The rocks are slippery, and three of us wandered back to the hotel in wet clothes. Although I had thought of Greenville as a good central location to visit the surrounding state parks and other natural attractions, like white water rafting, I'll also plan time in the future to spend in downtown Greenville - it is a great destination in its own right, and one of the most beautiful and lively downtowns I've visited in the South.
