“A cultural hotspot in downtown Greenville”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

This place has a cozy atmosphere and has some interesting artwork on the wall. Clubs meet there to talk and the place has a theater in the back for comedy and independent films. The air conditioning is a little loud. The food is pricey for the small portions they serve but it tastes good enough. I had the chili which was good and the sausage quiche which was acceptable. The coffee tastes fine. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's a clearing house of information on cultural events near the bathrooms. The place is too small to handle large groups.

“Sweet Delights & great Java selections!!!”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Coffee Underground participated in the FIRST annual Greenville Small Plates Crawl back in March. The event was scheduled for 3 days... M-W March 24-26. On Monday afternoon, our party strolled up Main Street from the Hampton Inn-RiverPlace headed for Coffee Underground to have an afternoon delight!

Be advised... when you get to the corner of Coffee & Main, LOOK DOWN... CU is really underground! Coffee Underground has a surprising variety of deli and grill creations not typically found at some "chain" coffee stops... yet CU has a dizzying number of coffee selections and sweet creations.

Personally, I was very curious about the CU's Bistro Slider, and definitely wanted to try the Crispy Crabby Tom (mini-crab cakes with fried green tomato & sweet potato nuggets with sweet hot mustard sauce). Time of day dictated that I opt for a Sweet Delights sampler (Mocha Cheesecake with Raspberry Puree, Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake, and Brandy-spiked Tiramisu)... and a simple black coffee! Yes, CU has a multitude of coffee selections to make the head spin, but this sampler (for me) needed only a fine cup of black! CU's helpful staff gave me a perfect recommendation to accompany the sampler. For about an hour, our party sipped our drinks and tasted our way around our samplers, shared some conversation, and had a quality stress free experience at our second stop on the GSP Crawl.

Great place, friendly staff... looking forward to the next time. I think the Crispy Crabby Tom will go well with a delicious hot cup of just plain Joe!

Reviewed 25 February 2014

Our first night in Greenville we decided to try the improv show that was to start at 9pm. We were seated and ordered a beer and app. the atmosphere was great and the improv show was funny. I recommend you try this if you want to do something a little different.

“Nice coffee house atmosphere”
Reviewed 15 January 2014

Excellent smoothies, desserts, and coffee options. It's tucked away in a basement off of Main Street, and has a really nice vibe. Usually pretty packed though. Unfortunately, I've found that many of the couches/booths are very dirty (ie, they look like they have never been vacuumed or cleaned). Overall a cool place.
