Description: The tradition of hard work and dedication with the Bertolo family began when Pete Bertolo had to start working at the age of 7 due to the sudden death of his father. At the age of 9, he became a full-time painter. At the age of 15, he and his family were driven out of Italy and chose to start a new life in America. He began working at a sewing factory in New York where he met his wife, Josephine, 4 years later. They both worked at the factory until 1977. In 1978, Pete and Josephine started from scratch a family business in Greenville, South Carolina. The success of the family business is based on both a strong work ethic and recipes steeped in Sicilian heritage. Antonino Bertolo went back to his roots and all the recipes currently being used in the restaurant can be traced back through 5 generations of Sicilian tradition. Antonino Bertolo realized the importance of the perfect balance of tomato sauce and spices when it comes to pizza sauce. The dough is made with 100% pure olive oil with a hint of honey. And Lastly, the Mozzarella cheese is still the same high quality “Grande Cheese” used when the doors opened in 1977 to give Antonino Bertolo’s Pizza its unique rich flavor. Antonino Bertolo’s signature pizza sauce uses the freshest and finest ingredients mixed together to make the perfect New York style pizza with a Sicilian influence.

we were stopping through greenville on a whim and wanted something quick, family friendly, not to mention tasty and affordable. I had the stromboli. it was pretty good, didn't taste fake. we also ordered a pizza and it was also really good. but the spaghetti and meatballs we ordered was VERY underwhelming. we had to take it home and "finish" making it by adding more seasoning like pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, Italian seasoning...the works!! it was a good starter kit for a spaghetti but it was just that, a starter kit that needed all kinds of help. the meatballs were ok, but they too need some more seasoning. a meatball shouldn't just be literally a meat-ball...it needs to be seasoned. but I digress. we would definitely go here again though, just probably won't order the spaghetti even though the portion size was huge. and they have spices at the table (we dined in) but the spices had little flavor and did little to help. the girls that worked there were very helpful and nice.

The pizza at this restaurant is excellent. Their sauce tastes like my homemade sauce, absolutely delicious! I've had both their regular crust pizza as well as their Sicilian pie, both are superb. Garlic knots are scrumptious. Save room for dessert, their cannoli are awesome! Yum

Having family in town for a visit, we opted to have pizza for dinner.
The food was okay. I had a stromboli, though I ordered a calzone. No harm no foul, it was good. Some of the staff seemed a little disengaged, but that may be due to the outdoor festivities. There was some kind of concert happening.
Our waitress was wonderful.
I will give them a second chance as I did enjoy the food, as did the family.
Overall, it was okay.

You have to order and pay for everything at the counter--including a second glass of wine or beer, meaning you have to get up from your meal, stand in line, order and pay, sit down, and wait for it to be delivered to the table. If you know this up front, you can just order 2 to start with and you're good. Pizza was good, the Stromboli was a little light on filling but still quite good. I would go again.

The Place
Great location in downtown Greenville, South Carolina on N Main Street. Clean open seating layout. Many tables and a few booths with table and chair arrangement. Nice wine bar setup with a good selection. Clean restrooms and kitchen area.

The Menu/Food
Great menu selections for pizza.
Buy it by the slice - Cheese Slice, Specialty Slice, Cheese Sicilian Slice
By the pan - Their pizza dough is made fresh daily with 100% pure olive oil. hand tossed, then topped with their signature pizza sauce. Choice of toppings; mozzarella cheeses, pepperoni, sausage, beef, canadian bacon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives, green olives, tomatoes, pineapple, banana peppers, jalapeño peppers, spinach, minced garlic, ricotta cheese, feta cheese, artichoke chicken, eggplant, meatballs, and real bacon

We had Greek salad and a 16" cheese, sausage, and pepperoni pizza, with ice tea and water for under $25.00. The pizza was excellent and what a great value.

The also have Calzones, Stromboli, and many entrees to choose from on the menu.

The Service/Experience
Our service was fast, friendly and efficient. We had a great lunch experience and will be back to try entrees on the menu and of course the wine bar. Next trip may warrant a 5 star rating.
