“Fabulous Property - what a setting”
Reviewed 2 weeks ago for a stay in March 2018
person found this review helpful

SparrowHawk House is a stunning property. We stayed in March and there was snow on the ground when we arrived but the Log Burner and central heating soon warmed up the whole house. The living area is upstairs and has gorgeous views over the lake which was frozen when we stayed.
The owners kindly left a basket of logs as it was cold and we purchased some more from the local onsite shop which also had lovely fresh bread and eggs.
Back to the house... amazing bathrooms and a lovely deep bath which was perfect after a long winter walk around the nature reserve.
The kitchen is very modern and well equipped too and we shall definitely return!

“Don’t recommend”
Reviewed 28 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

On Sparrowhawk House:
The house itself is attractive and clean, however, firstly its extremely cold. We stayed in April and the heating has been automatically set so you cannot change it or turn it on, with a note from the owner telling you its for environmental reasons. That’s great, but its absolutely freezing, and we had a 2 yr old and a 7 week old. Nights were especially cold. Next the bath was faulty which meant it took an extremely long time to fill, and with a tiny baby that was not ideal. Overall would definitely not recommend, especially given that there are so many excellent properties on the estate.

On Lower Mill Estate:
We have been to Lower Mill many times and stayed in various different houses. Lower Mill itself is excellent - we love it - perfect for kids. We always hire bikes to cycle around. It has three fantastic pools, one heated indoor, two heated outdoor. A great play area for younger kids, and tennis courts, football area, good cafe and generally a good safe kid friendly feel to it.

Management Response
7 May 2018
Unfortunately we're sorry to read this review, however we do not accept the points raised. The heating is exactly the same as all properties on the Lower Mill Estate and as owners, the property was used in the days before these customers arrived.
Above all, however, these customers broke beyond repair a toaster that was absolutely fine just days earlier. An amount was with-held due to this damage and unfortunately the customer totally denied this, even though the owners had used it so recently.
There is no restriction to the heating, the bath fills as you'd expect it to.
We're sorry that the guests feel that with holding a deposit because of damage is a reason for posting a bad review.
