“Golf Weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Decided on a last minute golf weekend with a couple buddies. Found this timeshare/hotel on Priceline for $199/night which was cheaper than the few remaining decent hotels available last minute. Check in was convenient, quick and the gentleman even gave us a good recommendation for dinner. The Boathouse is located just a block down the street and has a great tiki bar on the marina.

The one bedroom villa was very clean and comfortable with a great balcony overlooking the marina. The kitchen was very nice and complete with dishes, glasses, silverware and everything needed for a week long stay. Since we were only there two nights, we did not use the kitchen, but it was nice to have anyway. Large center island with seating was highlight.

Bathroom was very clean and spacious, towels were great. Bedding was a little tired but it did not ruin a good night sleep. Free Wi-Fi, parking, activities, and amenities make this resort worth the poor location.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor for a better view of the marina. They are also finishing a very nice pool, with...

First of all, we hardly got in the condo and the phone started ringing. I did not answer, until after the 4th call back. Surprise, it was the timeshare harassment department! The lady from Spinnaker asked me of my wife and I could join them for breakfast or lunch to take a survey and receive an update on the property. For our opinion and time we would get breakfast and a $50.00 dinner certificate. We agreed and arrived the next morning for a timeshare sales presentation. We told them we did not want to buy and were there to complete a survey and receive an update on the property. They told us, that was not the case and basically asked us to leave and did not provide the $50.00 dinner certificate.

As other reviewers have commented, the beds and bedding are terrible!! What a shame to have so much right and skimp on the bedding.

This is really a pet peeve of mine, but.... they spent all this money on granite counter tops and installed the cheapest most shallow sink in the kitchen! The sink in like the $39.00 stainless sink at Lowes!

Now onto the good.

Josh from the recreation department was AWESOME!!! Unfortunately he informed us that he turned in his 2 week notice for a better opportunity. He will truly be missed!!! Josh really made a difference for us and our kids. He helped with crabbing, fishing, kayaking, etc....

We at first were concerned with the location, but we very soon fell in love with the location! One morning when we were kayaking, we came very close to a dolphin. We almost always saw dolphin every day. It is so quiet and peaceful. Yes they were finishing the lazy river, but it was still very nice. We and the kids really wished the lazy river was open :-(

If you run, you can leave the resort, head down squirepope, make a left on 278, and then a right on gum tree for a nice 3+ mile run.

A note to all - DO NOT EVER BUY FROM A TIMESHARE FROM A DEVELOPER!!! We used to own three timeshares and never paid for one of them, they were all given to us. If you do like this one, and want to buy, do a little research, (ebay, etc.) You will be able to get one of these for free or a major discount. An owner was dropping flyers off asking $8k for their 2 bdrm.

We rented ours from a Craigslist post for $900 for the week (2 bdrm).

I was satisfied everything in the resort. Rental price was cheaper than others and the suit was very comfortable. My family could paddle a canoe, take a rest on swings and have a time in indoor or outdoor pool.

Part of the resort is in progress so during the morning and day construction is taking place which if sitting on the balcony isn't great. The condo was beautiful and had a washer and dryer which is great. The pool was nice, the area to and around the pier was enjoyable. Our biggest complaint is the beds. The mattress, linens, blanket and pillows are horrible. I think we've stayed on better at a motel. Never ever save money when it comes to guests sleep! A very costly mistake!

We spent a week at Bluewater through an II exchange and, for us, it was a good choice. It is ten years since we last visited the Low Country so there was much for us to see and do. Also, the weather was great for us as escapees from a difficult winter.

After two days of driving, we were happy that the resort was located in a quiet location not far from the bridge to the mainland. Each day after our many excursions, we felt a sense of relief as we returned to the tranquility of Bluewater. Perhaps this is due, in part, to the fact that we are island dwellers.

Our two bedroom unit was spacious, bright, clean, and well equipped. WIFI was efficient. I enjoyed the art pieces on the walls. We also enjoyed the outdoor pool and hot tub, the swings, picnic tables, and the well-groomed property.

The week started well with two talks given by Alex from the Activity staff. First she spoke about Hilton Head Island and then about the general area. This provided us with an excellent point of departure for planning our days. She distributed useful print materials and maps to the group. The talks were followed by a hot dog BBQ [for a small fee] where we had a chance to meet some of the other guests. Next morning, she spoke with enthusiasm about the history of the area, including the story of the Gullah people. I share her love of history so this was a real bonus.

The other activity staff member who enhanced our experience was Josh who taught us the fundamentals of kayaking and the craft of crab catching. While out on the dock chatting with him, I spotted a creature in the water which he quickly identified as a manatee. He also provided a close look at a couple of crabs that he caught. In the pond between reception and the buildings, we saw a lazy-looking alligator and several egrets.

We heard that there will be a restaurant/snack bar/bar on the property in the future. This would be a welcome addition.

We have exchanged one of our timeshares for twenty-five years at places around the world and I would say that this exchange compares favourably -- the property, the unit, the staff, and the general location -- that is, its proximity to restaurants, interesting sights, and activities.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our 4th floor location -- great view of the sunset.

We own time share here and found it to be nice and quiet. Very good Marina and most of the boat excursions can pick up from here. Outdoor and indoor pools are clean. Staff is friendly.
They are building a lazy river pool.

Room Tip: Third and fourth floor three bedrooms are nice

We spent a week here and had a very relaxing time. From looking out over the water from your balcony to watching the sunset on a swing by the dock, the location is wonderful. The resort is smaller, but the grounds and buildings are attractive and well maintained. They are finishing a third building and putting in another pool with a lazy river, but we were not bothered by construction noises. We actually didn't hear or see many of the other guests. We stayed in a two bedroom unit, and it was very comfortable. There were restaurants and a Publix not far from the resort, and it wasn't a long drive to other parts of the island. We only went to one of the activities at the resort, but they offered a number of choices. It was a great vacation.
