Took my 4 year old and my 6 year old here and it was a lot of fun for them. We saw lots of birds and some deer and were largely by ourselves or at least very distant from others and this was supposedly a 'busy' day.

We drove there one day and hiked around on our own. Fun, but did not know much about the history of the island or the ecosystem. Signed up for a free tour the next week and learned so much from our guide, David. Saw so many different kinds of birds and alligators as he led us around the Ibis pond.

Gorgeous nature preserve. A world away from the world. Even got to see an Eagle fly over. Great kayaking also.

Pinckney is a nice winter and spring activity when it is not too hot or buggy. No water or restrooms on the premises. I saw plenty of egrets, a flock of ibises, an eagle, alligator and many other birds on the ibis pond. Can't wait to visit again!

Convenient location to take a stroll and see wildlife and tidal pools. Easy walking, obviously flat, easy parking, no admission.
