We stayed for the first time at disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. We will be back! First, we had a newly renovated two-bedroom suite which felt luxurious and so spacious. We have three girls and we were able to be together when we wanted to and be apart when we wanted to. The view of the marsh was perfect from our private balcony. We were on the first floor (which is up a small flight of stairs) and didn't mind hearing the upstairs occupants walking around. I'm sure my kids singing "let it go" bothered them more!
A must-do is to rent bikes. We used the bike rentals at the hotel and they were fine. We biked to the beach house and back and all around the resort and neighboring ShelterCove area.
There isn't a sit down restaurant at the resort but plenty of places to eat in the area. There are two casual counter service places at the resort for lunch. We had a full kitchen in our suite and made all but one meal. That was more convenient and cheaper! There is a Kroger grocery store very close and it had a great deli, hot food, and a salad bar.

We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Spend the extra for a two bedroom suite if you have a family. We were in 3111 and it was class to parking, had a marsh view, and close to pool area.

When we arrived on the evening of March 21 the magical stay began. We were immediately greeted by the front desk associate who was very gracious and professional. This was our first stay at the resort and we were recognized with our first-timer pins...that was just plain fun! Our studio room was in the main building and it was perfect for two people. During our stay we enjoyed the beach & beach house, boardwalk, bikes, marina, shopping, snack bar, fishing pier, wildlife, movie rentals, Goofy Bingo, B'Lou storytelling, and Shadow (mascot Golden Retriever). This resort is a perfect Disney beach experience. We will be returning in the Fall 2014.

Checked in on 3/24. Our DVC studio room is spotless and very relaxing. They are currently upgrading the resort and we are watching them move in new washers/dryers. Lots of construction guys about. Pool was closed (cold out!) but people were in the hot tub. Went to Evening of Magic with B'Lou and had a fun time! You can play Disney bingo by watching the screen in the lobby and marking hidden characters. On the TV in the room you can see your name on the screen if you have a Celebration during your stay. Cast members were friendly, helpful and talkative as usual. There is shuffleboard, horseshoes, Disney movies to watch, campfires, arts & crafts, movies under the stars, pin trading, and more! Since the weather is very chilly (wind chill was 22 this morning!) - I wish they had an indoor pool and hot tub! Biking is offered but it's chilly and windy so we drove over to the Beach House. Dole treats and munchies are offered there. Ping pong was a hit with my daughter and husband. The beach is clean - no shells to speak of though. Water was very rough with spray - gave us great photo ops! Would stay here again, for sure, but in warmer weather! Only disappointment, really, was the cold and wind! :) Suggestions: no hooks for pjs (there is a hook for a towel by the shower,) no mirror on outside bathroom door (just over the couch), and a small shelf over the sink and a small "medicine cabinet" on the wall for toiletries. Bed was nice and blankets were wonderfully snuggly (I want to buy one!). Looking forward to coming back! PS - lots of ops for bird photos and right on a harbor with nice photo ops there, too!

Room Tip: Our room was in the Live Oaks Lodge. Our studio view was a partial view of the water. VERY quiet, however, and relaxing! A bit of a walk from the pool, pier, and Broad Creek Mercantile though.

we recently stayed here as DVC members from sunday to tuesday in March 2014..i was expecting more disneyish feel to it so i was slightly disappointed ..from the plastic topiary in front to the construction going on everywhere and the trails not marked as closed..was a little disappointed..
the unit itself was great and we had a nice view..it was quiet. and relaxing

This is the third year in a row that as snowbirds we have visited his resort and again have not been disappointed. The units have been refurbished and are amazing with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, new furniture and flat screen TV's. As usual the staff is wonderful, the grounds with the live oaks and hanging moss is picturesque and the beach is a beautiful walking/bike riding beach. The lodge is on the salt marsh and very neat with the tidal changes and wildlife. Sunsets are amazing on the dock on the salt marsh. If you love the ocean and the salt marsh...this is the place to be.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view of the salt marsh if you can...although the live oak trees are beautiful too!
