Our family of 4 stayed here as a promotion by Marriott Vacation Club in a 2 bed 2 bath villa. The villa seemed newly renovated and was spacious and well-decorated. Many of the public rooms were dated and tired but the gym was great with awesome views of the Atlantic. Large number of pools made it feel not crowded. Good number of planned activities every day. The staff was great - very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if we ever came back to sleepy Hilton Head.

We have been going to Grande Ocean on and off for the last eleven years and have always loved it. Some of the summer weeks were spent away at another Marriott Facility or abroad and we gave Grande Ocean a miss during those years. We drove from Eastern Pennsylvania starting Friday night and slept in Virginia before continuing further. We reached Hilton Head a little after 4 PM and it was raining heavily after check in. Since we were parked under the building unloading was not a problem. The check in is pretty smooth on a Saturday at 4 PM or a little later - this year our room was ready by 4:15 PM. Considering how little time the housekeepers had to clean the unit we very satisfied. Only blemish was that we noticed some soap remained in the dishwasher soap compartment. The dishes and utensils were clean and the unit was pretty immaculately cleaned. The carpet was steam cleaned. We liked the King sized bed in the Master bedroom and 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. The linen was very clean and plenty of towels were provided. We shopped at Publix nearby and ate in our unit which happened to be in the fifth floor of the Laughing Gull building with truly outstanding views of the Dolphin pool and the Atlantic ocean. All units at Grande Ocean are 2 bedroom 2 bath units with a full kitchen and every unit has ocean view (which may be obstructed by trees in the lower floors). We bought a few items from the market place and used the outdoor gas grills. We also like Pool Bar Jim's. We rented bikes from the Marriott bike store and biked to Harbortown and South Beach another day - the rental includes a pass to go into Sea Pines for free. We also biked on the beach all the way to Marriott Surf Watch one morning. The kids went to the Zip line place for aerial adventures which lasted a couple of hours. We visited the charming Coligny Plaza and ate breakfast at Skillets. We had a wonderful week - we were sad to leave a day early and checked out Friday afternoon so we could fit in some college visits for our seventeen year old. We will definitely be back.

This beautiful timeshare is right on a fantastic beach. The view from our oceanfront two bedroom unit was breathtaking. We would sit out on the patio and watch the dolphins play in the water while we ate breakfast. Our unit has been completely remodeled with in the past few months. Every detail was impeccable. There was a brand-new washer and dryer unit. They were full-sized. It was amazing to have a washer which spun the clothes so quickly that they would dry in a matter of minutes. This allowed us to pack much lighter without inconvenience. The kitchen had all new state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances. It was easy to be spoiled using such top-of-the-line equipment. We ate in most days. We were able to stock up for the full size refrigerator and freezer with everything we needed. The oven worked perfectly and it was a great complement to the barbecue grills which are available in multiple locations throughout the property. The king size bed and double queen beds were super. We love to have a whirlpool bath for two and separate shower with two separate bathrooms in our unit. The beach had wonderfully comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas to rent which saved us the trouble of carrying them. The multiple pools had great lounge chairs and plenty of shade available. We made good use of the hot tub's and recreational facilities. The poolside food was excellent as was the choice of beverages from the poolside bar. The tennis program is excellent. They have a wonderful free clinic every morning. They have five clay courts which are in perfect condition. We went to the drill and met multiple people at our same level to play on a daily basis. The pro was excellent. I took several lessons which were super. He helped us arrange some of our matches. The round robins were a lot of fun and had people at all different levels just looking for a good time. I must say we were completely spoiled by having everything in our unit and needing to bring only ourselves and our clothes to have a great time. We have already scheduled for next year.

My family and I just returned from a week's stay at the Marriott Grande Ocean in a pool view 2 Bedroom/ 2 Bathroom Villa through VacationCandy.com. I can honestly say that from check-in to check-out we were nothing but pleased with our experience. Firstly, the villa: We had 5 total people in our party and the villa was so big and spacious that we never felt like we were on top of each other. The villa had a large, fully-equipped kitchen, a large dining area, a huge living space with a couch and chairs, a good sized porch overlooking the entire grounds (including the ocean!), two large bedrooms and bathrooms (the master with whirlpool jacuzzi), and a big entrance foyer (so big that there is even a full utility closet off of it with washer/dryer). We found the room to be impeccably clean as well. Also our building was surprisingly quiet despite the resort being fully booked. Because these are larger timeshare units there are only 4/5 rooms per floor in MOST buildings. We went almost the entire week without even seeing anyone on our floor despite all the rooms being filled. Overall there were only a few minor annoyances that should be noted: 1) The sheets in the 2 queen bedroom were obviously not queen sheets but rather sheets for a full sized bed; thus, throughout the week they kept coming off in the night. The person who put them on obviously knew this and should've taken the time to get the right ones considering we showed up early and were forced to wait all the way until check in time to get into the villa 2) The layout of the queen bedroom was definitely a little off. The ceiling fan was almost entirely placed over one bed but not the other and the other bed was also pushed pretty far towards the wall. 3) A ceiling fan would be a great addition to the porch. The views are beautiful and a ceiling fan on the porch would make it a lot less hot to sit out and look at them. 4) The mattresses in general were good but not great. Overall, these are just minor annoyances that we picked up upon during our week. They definitely did not detract from our 5-Star experience. One of my major concerns coming in was that we would not have an ocean view. I have stayed at resorts where you are placed on the backside of the hotel looking at the parking lot. Not the case here: all rooms are located on the interior of the hotel and almost every room in some capacity has an oceanview. The higher up you are, however, the better the view. Next, the grounds: The grounds here are like the rooms in that they are massive. The resort is shaped in two horseshoes and they both have so many pools in them that they are hard to count. Our horseshoe featured two pools (one larger for kids/families and one smaller/quieter by the pool bar for mainly adults), the Dolphin Grille, Pool Bar Jim's, a jacuzzi tub, a putting green, and many grills. We found the pools to be great (though crowded), Pool Bar Jim's to be awesome and very Caribbean like with the ocean views and the light breeze, and the grounds in general to be beautiful with palm trees scattered everywhere. My only complaint about anything grounds related is that the Dolphin Grille closes at 4. I found this to be much much too early. Then there is the location: I personally think this is one of the best locations in Hilton Head. The Grande Ocean is located directly on Forest Beach (which is fantastic and expansive by the way) and is close to everything on Hilton Head including golf, sea pines/harbour town, restaurants, and anything else you can imagine. I will say though that it is a better idea to drive vs. biking or walking at night because there are no street lights in the area. Finally, the staff: we found them to be incredibly helpful throughout the week. The concierge also helped us with great deals in the area. This is another thing to be noted: the resort actually gives you discounts at many area restaurants/golf courses/attractions so be sure to look into that. Overall, we found to Grande Ocean to be a top notch experience. We will be sure to stay here again if we return.

Room Tip: Most rooms have some sort of ocean view. The higher up you are, the better the view.

I stayed here as a guest of friends who have a time-share week every year. This resort is truly 5-star! The villas are large and very comfortable. It's a time-share, so housekeeping doesn't come in every day, but they are always available if needed to make sure the villas are stocked with supplies. The resort is very close to shopping, dining and night life (or just enjoy the beach). I recommend renting a bicycle (right at the resort) for the week - Hilton Head has an amazing network of bike trails, which can take you just about anywhere. Loved it...hope they invite me back again! :)

I simply don't have enough praise for this resort - something I haven't given out often. The rooms were spectacular; the grounds are stunning and the staff could not have been more pleasant or accommodating. This is absolutely a first class resort. We stayed five nights on the lagoon side of the property. We had a beautiful balcony to enjoy the evening and the South Carolina peepers. We did visit in high season so pool chairs were typically filled, but we managed to find seats every day. The beach is beautiful and there we weren't able to get seats as they were all rented. The activities were great and our teenage kids studied the activities listing daily to plan their day the next day. The fitness center is spectacular with a five star expansive view of the ocean. The food at the Market was great and my kids enjoyed getting a milkshake or a sandwich to enjoy at the pool. Pool Bar Jim's makes you feel like you are somewhere in the Caribbean with their exotic drinks and fresh fruit specialities. Live music throughout the week brought great energy to the pool deck. We would absolutely - categorically - return and would highly highly recommend the resort to others. Note you can rent bikes on premises; free wifi is included as is free parking. I especially appreciated the emails in the days ahead of our visit with suggestions for our trip and questionnaire about our preferences for our room. Excellent..excellent...excellent. Great job team Marriott! Made me proud to be an Elite rewards member.

Room Tip: lagoon side was more recently renovated

Our family has been vacationing on Hilton Head for 25 plus years. We have stayed on other Marriott properties throughout the island. This was our first stay at the Grande Ocean. We loved everything about it. The villas were huge and well maintained and equipped. The amenities and pools were a bonus. They have wonderful activities for all ages! We loved the location as well. We were a walk away from Coligny Park and very close to Sea Pines. We enjoyed it all!! Pool Bar Jim is a plus, too! We loved everything and all they offered. We will be back! It is by far the best place we have stayed at!
