We stayed in 335 which was a great location- oceanfront and poolside. I didnt mind not having en elevator but Im not afraid of exercise either. The unit was in terrible condition when we arrived I took pics to email to the owner because I was afraid we would be charged for the condition of the unit-- and still did not return full security deposit- Honesty is a funny thing. The curtain rod was broke, the drawers and refrigerator was filthy and the white handle on the refrigerator was dark gray- it took 2 magic erasers to budge it. The bathroom was extremely small and the pics on the website are deceiving the unit is 519 sq. feet. Thats the size of my den! and to have to clean when I arrived- not what I had planned for. The owner was great to deal with until we arrived. We would visit again to this location but with a different unit and owner- we have friends that have stayed here for years and they can not believe what we experienced.

Recently my wife and I visited Hilton Head and stayed at one of the TAN properties, The Breakers. The location was great with an ocean view and an easy 100 yard hike to the beach. We chose a 2nd floor 1 br which was fine.( no elevator) The 1br was on the small side but was clean and everything worked. The bed could have used a firmer mattress and the pull out sofa was terribly uncomfortable. We could have lived with that. However, at least twice during our week there, a knock on the door was quickly followed by a worker or workers opening the door to enter. The first time was re: checking the door for any needed adjustments. It had recently been installed. The second was a guy spraying for bugs. There was no deadbolt lock although many units have them, evidently privately owned. Nevertheless, one enters this unit directly into the bedroom. If someone was in bed sleeping or in the shower, he or she might be in for a big surprise. Or, if we were out on the beach and left money and/or any valuables lying around thinking they were secure, we'd be wrong. So, we wondered how many others came into our unit using a key when we weren't there???? First, there needs to be a deadbolt lock installed. Secondly, anyone entering the unit needs to get permission ahead of time. Any repairs, spraying, etc could have been scheduled on Saturdays since incoming weekly guests can't check in until 4 pm. If these changes were made and the pull out sofa was replaced, I'd recommend it. However, I can't recommend The Breakers at this time.

Our condo is clean and perfect for 2. Only down is the 3 flight walk up Ha. Oh well,am toning my legs. Nice pool, quite ,on beach and we have a great viewof beach. Every thing in walking distance.Plenty of sunset specials[still a little pricy though].Any way, this Tan unit is very nice. We have not had a real complaint about our codos with Tan,but we travel in Aporil and May.

We just spent a week in Breakers unit 235. This was our first trip to Hilton Head. The condo was small (one bedroom) but our usual vacation spot is a small cabin in Minnesota so we were willing to give up extra space for an affordable place on the ocean. The unit sleeps 6 with a queen bed in the bedroom, two bunks in the hall, and a hide-a-bed in the livingroom. We have three kids ages 15, 13, and 7. The bunks were small but worked well for our two youngest kids. The unit was recently updated and was very clean upon arrival. It was fully equipped with everything we would need for our stay (pots, pans, utensils, dishes, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, toaster, etc). The washer and dryer in the unit came in handy with our kids. The view from the balcony of the beach was beautiful and because we were in an end unit we also had a view of the pool off the side of the balcony, which came in handy if our two older kids were down at the pool. The pool is not huge but goes from a depth of 3 feet to 8 feet. There is also a 2 foot deep kiddie pool which came in handy for our youngest who does not yet know how to swim. By the end of the week he was going under water like a fish. The condo is in a great location and is walking distance to everything from restaurants, to grocery shopping, and gift shops. We barely drove anywhere all week. The beach was wonderful and there are lifeguards on the beach as well. Should we return to Hilton Head in the future we would definitely stay in this unit again.

The best part of the breakers is it's right on the ocean. We stayed in room 426. Supposedly could sleep 6 people. We were 4 and it was a tight squeeze. The bunk beds would not fit anyone over the age of 10. Since the units are owned by individual people I can't judge the whole place but our unit was dirty. On of the sheets on the bunk beds had pee stains. She washed all the sheets and towels. We also had to wash all the utensils and pots and pans and everything. There isn't much there to use. There are salt and pepper shakers but nothing in them. The blender was broken. We did have a stove, microwave, oven. Not enough pots and pans, no pasta pot. There is a laundry machine and dryer which is good!

Very tight squeeze. Little storage area. 43 steps until the top floor, no elevator. There were only two chair at the table. We found an extra one in the closet. We had to use a cooler as an extra chair. No way could 6 people fit. Bathroom is SMALL and short. For some reason they installed the mirrors and sink too low so you have to bend down to see in them.

But the location is great. Right on teh beach. The pool is small but we didnt even go in it once. Beach is great. Can rent umbrella and lounge chairs from life guard for 30 dollrs if needed. Shopping and restaurants close by too.

Definately rent a car, so much to see in Hilton Head.
