We went to HHI with several families and had no say in selecting this resort for our accommodations. We read some of the reviews on here and started second guessing the group's decision to go here, mostly because of the negative points about the proximity to the public beach and the thefts that it presumably brings. We decided not to bring our bikes also because of the reviews mentioning that bikes were stolen from the garage. I am happy to say that none of these were problems we experienced.

In fact, Sea Crest could not have been more perfect for our large group of friends traveling together. Its location is spot-on! I would say that alone would bring me back to this resort. I had no idea how many restaurants and shops are at Coligny. Between our group, we frequented them all: Skillets for great breakfast (French Toast was awesome!); the French Bakery for pastries and quiche; Frosty Froggy's Pizza for takeout and two sit-in meals (it was too perfect for large families with kids!); Steamers (the rest of the group went and were not happy with it and two people got stomach problems after eating there that night); and Daniel's bar/club for after-dinner drinks and music. Our best meal of the week was at the Sage Room which was a short 10 min walk from Sea Crest. It was incredible! We hired babysitters from a nanny service and made it an adult night. The Piggly Wiggly also was a huge convenience to have there. And all of that was a 2-minute walk from our building.

We stayed in unit 3204 (building 3 which is ocean-front, floor 2) which we rented through the Vacation Company. It was very nice and truly one of the most well-stocked rentals we have ever stayed in. It was in beautiful condition and had an amazing ocean view. Plus we were able to take the stairs rather than the elevator which was considered to be slow and infrequently available. One elevator per building was a challenge. One piece of advice.... don't arrive too close to check-in time of 4pm because you will experience a shortage of luggage carts and wait in long lines for the elevators. We arrived at 6pm and had no problems whatsoever, but our friends who arrived between 3-4pm were very frustrated with the process.

The building itself was decent but all of the units we rented within it were excellent. The building shows some wear and tear, and it was disappointing to me that you had to walk through the parking garage to get to the pool or beach. I think that didn't help the feeling that the building wasn't so nice since you're constantly walking through its dark parking garage. One positive with the resort is that all 3 buildings within the resort were connected inside. So it was easy for us to get to and from our friends' units and send our kids on their own. The pools were large and clean, and we were glad there were no restrictions on bringing our own food and liquor there. The pool-side restaurant experienced problems due to a flood of the main kitchen so they had a limited menu of mostly burgers and hot dogs the whole time we were there. That was a bit frustrating since we were counting on having most of our lunches there or at the beach. Though one day we made the 5 minute walk down the beach to the Holiday Inn's Tiki Hut and had a good lunch there.

Lastly, I would like to mention that the beach located in front of Sea Crest is one of the best anywhere. The tide comes in close to the dunes late at night so that when it recedes throughout the day, it leaves a very nice, compact beach full of tide pools that the kids and adults loved to lounge in. The sand is perfect for building sand castles and it is packed nicely to secure umbrellas and canopies. We brought along our 10X10 canopy and it worked beautifully (except for the last day which was very windy). You'll see many other canopies set up on the beach so try to stake out your spot early on.

Overall a perfect week with a large group staying at Sea Crest, taking advantage of everything it had to offer.

Room Tip: Building 1 is farthest from the beach and pools. Building 3 is ocean front. Unit 3204 in building 3 on the second floor was fantastic. Views were amazing. And easy access up and down to the pool/beach. Unit was fully stocked. We didn't want for anything. Even when we hosted a sleepover with 6 extra boys, we had so many extra pillows and blankets in the closets.

We loved the condo, it was very nice and had a great view of the ocean. However, we didn't sleep the whole week because of the bar next door that had loud music playing and people screaming until 2 am every night! Last time we came here the bar was not there and we had a relaxing vacation. This time it was anything but relaxing. if you are here to party all night this place is for you. If your looking for a quiet place to stay look elsewere! It's a shame that such a nice condo is next door to a bar.

Room Tip: Don't stay in building 1 or you will hear the bar all night

We stayed in #2415 (bldg. 2/4th floor), a 3 bedroom condo. The condo was wonderful with an awesome view. The location is the best part. Coligny Plaza is right behind the complex..full of great restaurants (Steamers was our favorite), Ice Cream Parlors, shopping, and the Piggly Wiggly grocery store. The property is gorgeous and very well kept. The pools, hot tub, and beach were all wonderful. Great food at drinks at the pool Tiki Snack Bar that were very reasonably priced. This was our first stay..but not the last!

Room Tip: We were in bldg. 2..upper floors will have better ocean views. I don't think you could get a bad location!

Stayed at Seacrest in April-13, located at 10 N Forest Beach Drive, HHI. The location is superb, right on Coligny Beach with the shops, restaurants and snack bars of Coligny Plaza right across the road.

If you can get a unit in building 3 you'll be directly overlooking the ocean, where dolphins can be spotted, pelicans swoop by and you can watch people going about their day-to-day activities without a care in the world!

We stayed in unit 3504, rented through Wyndham (was previously Resort Quest) and this 2-bedroom, 2 bath villa was equipped with everything you could possibly need. 2 balconies, nice open plan living / dining / kitchen, across from the elevator which takes you to the garage. We didn't hear a peep from our neighbours during our stay and would recommend Seacrest very highly. If only we had the $$$$s to make this our second home away from home we wouldn't hesitate!

Some tips from our stay ...
- be sure to check out Seapines Forest Reserve if you are into nature and use Outside Hilton Head at Shelter Cove Harbour for your boat trips - they are simply superb
- shop at Walmart Festival Centre on your way in to the resort to pick up essentials, an easy 15 minute drive using the Toll Road thereafter. There's a Bi-Lo on Pope which is slightly more expensive but has all you need.
- Wyndham provide welcome pack which includes enough towels for every guest, dishwasher powder, washing-up liquid, kitchen towels, keyless entry with welcome pack collected from offices just around the corner on Pope Avenue.
- use the cross island toll road as the quickest way on and off the Island -$1.25 well spent!
- we ate mainly at the villa but would recommend Annie O's Southern Eats for a taste of the South!
- a day spent in Savannah is well worth it, beautiful city.

Room Tip: Building 3, high floors for uninterrupted direct ocean views!

We stayed in 1206, in building one. It is a gorgeous condo, fitted with everything you could want for a vacation. They even left games, books and dvd's for guests. It is a great building, lovely pool and gardens and in the centre of everything.

But that is the one and only problem with this unit. Right next door to building 1 is a building with some shops and restaurants. One of the restaurants, Daniels, turns into a nightclub at night from Wednesday to Saturday. The ridiculous bass reverberating out of that place shakes this unit until about 2:30 a.m. It is totally outrageous and unecessary as there didn't even appear to be a "club" demographic from what we saw over the course of a week in March.

It is very sad that the Seacrest Villas management, or the town of Hilton Head, has not addressed this problem, because it is the only negative factor in an otherwise outstanding property. But without confirmation that this has been corrected, I would never go back and would never recommend it.

And by the way, Daniels should just go away in any event, because the staff at this place (when it is operating as a restaurant) vary from rude to indifferent. Go to Flatbreads where the staff is much friendlier and the food is very good.

Room Tip: sadly, you would have to go to building 3 if you want to sleep
