Owner description: As the first course built on Hilton Head Island, the Ocean Course at The Sea Pines Resort embraces the true coastal golf experience. Exquisitely redesigned in 1995 by Mark McCumber, this breathtaking golf course boasts one of only two oceanfront holes on Hilton Head Island and poses delightful challenges to novices and veterans.

Course was in great shape and the staff all very friendly. I'm a Mid-level golfer and found the course challenging but not intimidating. Great views and layout. Would definitely recommend it and come back.

It was unseasonably cold for this area the weekend before Thanksgiving, but the course was generally in good shape and fun to play - as fun as a Pete Dye course can be. The new clubhouse will be a welcome addition. Ready to go back and play again.

This is a very nice course....but 'Ocean" is a bit of a misnomer, since only one green and one tee offer an ocean view....most holes are trees and houses.

The clubhouse construction and lack of parking is a bit of a hassle. Also on this day the greens had been sanded....smooth, but inconsistent speeds and pretty slow. The course is good...fairway bunkering make tee shots more difficult than most HH courses. Green complexes and bunkering are good. Drink cart shows up a number of times. Big 'piss me off' factor is having to pay $5 to get into Sea Pines gate despite paying $150+ for green fees..

We take good customers to Hilton Head for golfing each fall and this year we played a variety of golf courses. The Ocean Course at Sea Pines Plantation is one of our favorites, since you can get a nice view of the ocean from 2 or more of the holes. We hoped to use more of the facility, however, the social areas and restaurants are going through a top to bottom renovation. It appears that the old buildings are now removed, with new ones under construction. It is a big complex. The golf was fine, but note that during this time of year, many courses are being over seeded with grass seed, and they post golf cart only rules. Not a problem for a straight shooter, but nice to be aware.

I can't say enough about the fairways and greens at The Ocean Course: Perfect ! Never did I wish that I could bump my lie in the fairway. Greens are plenty fast and true. There's not a lot of undulation in the greens (unless I had a 8 foot downhiller). There's plenty of water and sand if you are hitting it a little off line but fairways are plenty generous. This course is a must play when we visit HHI. The locals love this course. That tells me a lot.
Pro shop is well stocked with nice variety. The clientele is a mixture of "members" and visitors. Sometimes pace is an issue but rangers try to keep play moving. Enjoy the scenery. quite nice.
