Owner description: As the first course built on Hilton Head Island, the Ocean Course at The Sea Pines Resort embraces the true coastal golf experience. Exquisitely redesigned in 1995 by Mark McCumber, this breathtaking golf course boasts one of only two oceanfront holes on Hilton Head Island and poses delightful challenges to novices and veterans.

One star because of the very friendly reservation lady and the kind and helpful pro shop staff. Five stars for the very nice couple we were paired with. Starter said the greens were in "pretty good shape" unsolicited. In reality the greens were a disaster, that is not an exaggeration. I'd be embarrassed to let people play on it in that condition. The least there should be is some honesty about the course conditions and heavy discounts. Being here on vacation this is one of two courses we chose. We played golden bear for half the cost and it was in amazing shape. They gave us a rain check on 9 holes because it took 2.5 hours to play 9 holes and had two groups waiting on 10, only to be forced to play the front nine again the next day. Took my son there for our splurge round, and it was a huge mistake.

Played last week, hosting a group of golfers. Greens were terrible. It's almost like they let the course go while building the new clubhouse. Starter was rude and short with us (and we were on time and ready to play). Mowers all over the place, and we teed off at 10:00am. Spend your money elsewhere, or wait for Heron Point to come back online.

Played Ocean course for the first time in June. It was a fun course to play with some beautiful holes on it, but unfortunately it did not go to the ocean. You have to walk to view the ocean. The greens were definitely not in good shape but the rest of the course was in great condition. I would play again since they facilities are great and the service was amazing.

Played on 6-17-14. Greens are one of the worst I have played! When I called they said the greens were coming along great after the aerification. That was not the case. I would have never played if they told me about the condition they were in. It will be 2 months before these greens even start to recover

It's a very nice course, but NOT an ocean course. One hole you SEE the ocean, but that's it! The Robert Trent Jones course at Palmetto Dunes you see the ocean better. The 18th green in a disappointment. You finish with the road behind it and Major construction of lots of trucks moving. Great clubhouse, though!
