Love not being on the road and sightseeing or doing errands. Riding on the beach is the best though.

There's virtually no place on Hilton Head Island you can't get to on the Bike Paths. They are wonderful and plentiful. There are multiple bikepath signs and you can't get lost. A few of the plantations will let you ride your bikes through, some will charge $5 and others nothing which adds to the locations and destinations you can ride to. We generally stay at Waterside on Pope Avenue and ride our bikes to Salty Dog Cafe for lunch. It's about 7 miles each way, but great exercise.. Eat there for lunch, then ride back to Diary Queen for dessert...Great 2 to 2 and a half hours....

Renting a bike at Hilton Head Island is a must and besides the beach, there are many wonderful bike trails all over the island. It is also a safe way to bike as long as one follows the direction of the traffic signs. The only draw back is that the Sea Pines Plantation is officially only accessible by bike for people who stay there. One can pay for a pass and drive there by car or motorbike, but that doesn't help those on a bicycle.

We have rented bikes in the Sea Pines plantation 3 times in the past 6 years. The bike trails are numerous, mostly shaded and routed through wooded areas. For the most part they are flat, making for easy riding. You can also ride on the beach at low tide.
