“Memorial Day weekend stay”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Our very first trip to Hilton Head! We arrived on Thursday before Memorial Day around 9pm. We ate a late lunch so we could enjoy some of the local food there when we got there. Once we checked in and got situated in the room, we looked for restaurants. Since we didn't know the area and had just driven for 5 hours we didn't want to venture out of Seapines. Very, very few are open past 10 on a weeknight and the ones that are open are more of a bar and would not let the two 17 year old girls we had with us in to eat. We finally were told about a Mellow Mushroom, which really didn't bother me since I love their food, but we were all hoping for some seafood or something local. Our villa was great, about 1/2 mile from Harbour Town and about 5 or so miles to the beach. I know the new beach club will be amazing once it opens, it looks so nice.
The trolley was GREAT!!! Takes you just about wherever you want to go in the resort. Sometimes you have a fairly long wait, but the weather was great so it wasn't bad.
The girls para-sailed, rode horses, and rented bikes and we all had a ball!!! The prices for the horses and para-sailing was a bit steep, but we all loved the experience.
Our villa was really nice, a few hiccups in the cleanliness/appearance of it, but nothing that could not have been taken care of ourselves. The only issue I think I really had was the condition of the metal chairs on our patio. Three of the four of them were completely rusted through the support area of the chairs making them useless. We overlooked a lagoon on a golf course and had daily visitors of alligators and turtles which was pretty neat.
My husband and I did an informal wedding vow renewal on a little sitting area on the property overlooking the lagoon with our children, and it was a perfect place to do it!
We had a great time at this resort and will definitely be back!

We rented what we called a, "mushroom" house, a two bedroom home perched above a central entrance/services base. Near Harbor Town, these small homes are scattered through the woods. Ours was near the sound with a great view over the tidal lands and water.
We had two couples in the house, but a family with kids would have been fine. Two bedrooms, two small baths, a living/dining space, a kitchen, and a great deck. It lived well, though tight. When it was warm enough to eat on the deck, it was perfect. Seating four at the little table inside was cozy.
Lots to do outside. Our favorite was to head out on the bike trails on roller blades. You can go all over the island on blades or bikes. In places, the trails have deteriorated a bit, but most are in fine shape. There is even a special bike gate to get in and out of the community.
Beyond using the trails, we walked on the beaches, ate at great restaurants, shopped and enjoyed the off season quiet. I can imagine that the beaches are packed in the spring and summer, but March was just before the rush, and we enjoyed the quiet.
A nice vacation all around.

Room Tip: Rentals near the water are worth extra for the views.

We have spent the last 14 winters in Seapines. Wonderful winter break. Not as warm as Florida, especially this past winter but NO snow and ice.
Much construction this winter but should be wonderful by next January.
This is a large resort plantation with all different kinds of accommodations, great restaurants, bike paths and long beaches.

Room Tip: Houses, codos, villas and hotels. Great options.

The butlers (most appeared to be interns from European Universities) were extremely attentive (almost to the point of being annoying at times, but I'd rather they try too hard than not hard enough) and the rooms and facilities were nice. The only disappointment about the room was the tv did not get an HD signal so the picture was poor, but we were on our honeymoon and didn't watch much tv. Free loaner bikes were a nice touch, its an easy bike ride to harbour town or the beach. The butlers really push the on-site restaurants (harbour town grill, quarter-deck) and they are worth sampling, but we found lots of great restaurants off the property, on Hilton Head and Savannah.

The property is very nice (typical resort), however there's a lot of traffic around it. Also the staff is variable. There were some UK interns that were outstanding. However the other interns were almost cold. About 80% of the clientele is from the metropolitan northeast/mid-atlantic (and over 60) and they bring their culture and attitude with them, so do not expect a warm charming atmosphere. The food was good, but most of the seafood was not local. There are many other places to visit in the south- coastal area if you want southern charm and courtesy, that are also less contrived, culturally sterile and manufactured. But if you are from the above mentioned regions you'll be right in your element, and likely not even know the difference.

Room Tip: Pick the golf side, otherwise you will be by a parking lot and quite loud tennis court in the mornin...

Thank you very much for staying with us, and for sharing your views on your stay. We deeply apologize that you did not receive the service you were expecting. It is our goal to treat each guest to nothing less than the most remarkable experience possible, and if we failed you in that regard it is to our regret.

We are proud of the wide range of guests and staff we attract to the Inn from all points of the globe. That so many are willing to make the trip from so far speaks volumes to the Southern hospitality we extend to all of our guests.

As proud as we are of our hospitality, we are even prouder to partner with local seafood providers. There’s no finer fare to be had than right here on the Carolina coast, and that’s why we partner with Certified South Carolina and Fresh on the Menu to bring guests a unique dock-to-table experience.

We are traveling around the country, and we carry Kayaks on our car. They will not let you enter their gated resort if you have them on top of your car! The rudest gate attendant ever said, "the members will have your car towed" if you go in here. We had a golf tee time in 30 minutes, no place to just drop them off, so we were forced to cancel the time (We also had another time for a few days later we canceled.).
We were treated so rudely, that we had to post this. Because of this stupid rule and the rude gate attendant, it cost this resort and the golf courses here at least $750; 3 rounds of golf at about $400, food, souvenirs and drinks would have been another $300-400. We happily went to another course that morning, The Golden Bear GC at Hilton Head and had a perfect experience; great staff, great value, and a very nice course.
