We stayed in an excellent suite which lacked for nothing. The staff were friendly and efficient from arrival to departure. The pools were not crowded, and the bar/restaurant at the end of the boardwalk was great for chilling with babies as well as oldies. The only problem was the appalling quality of my golf on the fabulous golf course. Well done Wild Dunes.

This is the 20th time we have vacationed at Wild Dunes. We always enjoy our time there and have had many different kinds of vacations. You can rent a condo through Wild Dunes itself (which is probably the most expensive option). You can rent through a realty agency like Island Realty, or you can rent through an owner, as we did this year. We have stayed all over the resort, but this year we stayed in Port O' Call. It was a nice unit with one bedroom. We were on the 3rd floor, but there was an elevator, which made it much easier to come and go. Port O' Call is right on the beach and we could see the beach from our screened in deck.
The beach is excellent and clean. We brought our own sun umbrella and beach chairs; the resort does not supply them. However you can rent them through a couple different places.
Once at the resort, you can enjoy the pool of the complex where you stay. There is a fabulous bike path around the island, so it is a lot of fun to rent a bike and ride around by bike. Several companies rent bikes, and they will actually come and deliver the bike to your condo.
Tennis lessons are offered at the tennis complex.
There are restaurants on the resort, but they are rather pricey. It is a very short drive to Isle of Palms restaurants and Mt. Pleasant restaurants.
If you are arriving for a week, you can pick up groceries in Mt. Pleasant at Piggly Wiggly or Bi-Lo on your way into the resort. There is a small grocery store (Red and White) on Isle of Palms.
Near the Boardwalk Hotel is a lagoon where a couple alligators live. We really enjoyed alligator watching. :)
Wild Dunes also has a marina where you can book para sailing (if you are feeling adventurous.
There are also 2 very expensive golf courses. It probably costs $1000. to golf there. :)
We always have a good time when we vacation at Wild Dunes. The landscaping is just awesome and the beach is fabulous.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn which is part of the Wild Dunes Resort. Hotel was absolutely beautiful. Clean, well appointed, and the staff could not do enough to keep you happy. Valet service and parking was complimentary. The food was extremely good - whether it was at the Sea Island Grill, the Lettered Olive, or simply take-out from Hudson's Market, everything was very, very good. All of these places are on the resort property.

It was my husband's birthday and a simple email to Carol McCarthy, Boardwalk Inn's Concierge, prior to our arrival facilitated a welcome bottle of wine and cheese platter, and a small cake arrived in our room on his birthday with a lovely card from the hotel management. Carol really made his day so special. She even helped me choose a restaurant in Charleston for his birthday dinner and made the reservation for us. We chose Hall's Chophouse and it was OUTSTANDING! Wonderful food, great ambiance with live piano music, and the Hall family is there to greet you when you arrive! Very nice place. It had a New York City feel to it with the added "Southern hospitality" thrown in. It was a fabulous evening! The whole experience far exceeded my expectations.

We fell in love with the Isle of Palms, Wild Dunes (the beach is out of this world!), and will certainly be back. It was a tough place to leave...

Great spot to spend the night or more time if you have it. Welcomed at the front of the resort by name. Free attendant parking. Front desk expected me and called me by name. Wall Street, Charleston and USA Today papers freel. Several resturants to dine or snack on property. Great on property bar. Bar tender makes a mean drink. Spacious rooms, fantastic beds and bathroom. Flat screen TV's. If you are lucky enough to get an ocean view with a balcony jump on it! Get up in time for the breakfast buffett. Outstanding selection and food value. Try the Cheese Low Country Grits with seafood wow. I did not get to enjoy the spacious pool but this is on the ocean anyway. Just an all round pleasureable business night experience.

Having come to WD for 16 years it has been sad to see this resort spiral downward. The golf course, particular the Links, has really fallen backward. The Links has now become an overpriced muni. The greens are horrible. The service is pathetic.

The restaurants are extremely disappointing. Service is poor. Food quality is a joke.

The beaches have improved since the days of severe erosion. Now they are just overcrowded. The days of the tranquil beaches at WD are gone and are closer to Myrtle Beach.

What has happened to WD? Not really sure....hopefully they will recognize their problems and get this resort back to where it was.

The vacation was truly a vacation. The service, facilities and atmosphere were excellent. Live music was available each night. The only problem was it shut down at 10. A little longer would have been great. Drinks were exspensive but the rest of the food was reasonable. Great place to jog and or ride bikes. The staff couldn't have been friendlier.
