“Spent our 21st anniversary- It was wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

What a wonderful place! My husband and I spent our 21st anniversary there which I planned as a surprise for him. The staff and customer service were so helpful! They even pointed me to a photographer/pastor team who helped us renew our vows right there on the beach. My husband thanked me over and over for planning such a wonderful trip. We played golf, rode bikes, visited the beach and the Boardwalk pool. The restaurants there offer much variety and everything is so convenient. Our only regret was that we had to leave when we really wanted to stay. We will be back!

We just fell in love with this place. We stayed in a 1 bedroom village condo and it was perfect. The staff was super nice and so were the accommodations. The beach wasn't too crowded and that was nice, the pools were clean and fun. We also enjoyed the free outdoor movies they did at night. Can't wait to go back someday

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn for one night unexpectedly after a wedding. We experienced horrible customer service when we checked in around 2am. We asked for a 10:30 am wake up call that never got done. We were woken up by the housekeepers chatting loudly in the hallway early in the morning. The price of the room was not worth the stay, not to mention the front desk staff over night was incompetent at checking us into our room in a timely manner. I would not recommend staying here. We also had to call about a $30 charge that was not on our bill summary, but made it's way onto our credit card. If you're looking for an excellent and welcoming place to stay on an island outside of Charleston, SC I would highly recommend The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island.

Dear JP, Thank you for sharing your feedback from your recent one-night stay. I want to sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your short visit, especially the improper service you encountered at the front desk upon arrival and the missed wake up call and noise disturbance the following morning. Trust that I am reviewing your specific arrival experience with our front desk, housekeeping and leadership teams to reinforce our high standards of customer service and audit the practices of our overnight staff. Thank you again for sharing your review as it helps us understand unique experiences such as yours and make immediate improvements moving forward. We had a great time and great service at wild dunes. We were there with a bunch of couples to celebrate a friends bday. When we got there the room was not ready which we knew because we were early. We had food so the front desk told us the bell men/valets could store it. They did with a smile on their faces. Everyone was so nice and helpful. We will be back again.

Room Tip: We had the penthouse with 3/4 bedrooms it was on the top floor which was great!

My mother and I stayed at the Wild Dunes Resort for two nights. It was a relaxing end to our busy trip driving over South Carolina and Georgia seeing the historic sites. We had a large room, and although we could not see the ocean, we were high enough to have a great view of the sky - which is very expressive in South Carolina. The complex the Resort is within is huge and makes you feel like you're in a suburb cul-de-sac, or an odd fantasy land or movie set. There doesn't seem to be much to do beyond swimming in the pool (I believe there were 3...) or the ocean, or reading on the beach under umbrellas (you have to rent these, but it was easy to find a free one that no one claimed throughout the day and so got away without renting). However, everything is close in SC, and you could easily drive somewhere nearby to see something new. What is special about this place is the stores nearby (delis, restaurants, knick-nack shops) and the people. The people were so nice and helpful and clearly dedicated to doing the best job possible. I have never stayed in a place where everyone seemed so invested in their job and in giving the guests the best stay possible. Don't know if that is a trait singular to SC, the south, or the Wild Dunes Resort, but it was wonderful. Made the stay feel truly special.

Wild dunes met and exceeded all my expectations.
We stayed at a condo at the end of the complex about a mile away from the central hotel area.
The condo was well presented and equipped (wifi was installed a day before we left).
The distance to the main hotel area was not an issue as in resort transport is available and the drivers were very friendly and helpful. Or the walk down the vast beautiful beach was a lovely start to the day.
The pool areas are excellent served again by fantastically friendly staff.
A great place to stay

We spent several days at the Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. We took a couple of books and hoped to spend some quiet evenings on the balcony and at the beach. A little more due diligence might have helped. The beach is a good walk away from the condos; it's pretty small when the tide comes in; and the sand is dark grey and hard as cement. The Wild Dunes condos are nice, and seem like a good value for the money. But don't expect a quiet time. Every evening we had entertainment directly below our balcony... singers with amplifiers, bingo games, marshmallow roasting, art fairs, and more. Again, great for families. Not so great for a quiet time away. Oh, and prices for food seemed pretty high. Beers were $9 and hotdogs by the pool were $8. Much higher than I'm used to here in the mountains.
We got a nice sunburn before we left. And as we departed we compared the current morning temperature to home - it was 93 and humid at Isle of Palms, and 71 and sunny back home in the mountains.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south end are quieter.
