Description: In the mid 1900's a new chapter of history was made in a small town in Little River S.C. At that time a restaurant was opened in the very banks of the Intercoastal Waterway, called Capt. Juel's Hurricane. In the mid 70's the restaurant was brought by Joe Robertson, who still owns it today. You will still find Mr. Joe in and around the kitchen and his wife Deanna behind the bar mixing up killer drinks or in the kitchen preparing the luscious desserts. The restaurant is managed by their daughter Heidi and her husband Clayton, it truly is a family affair. In 2014 the place under went a total renovation inside and out. The restaurant now features a new Sushi Bar, that's a must have over looking the untouched marshlands. Capt. Juel's stills brings you the freshest seafood, hand cut steaks and chops. The menu is filled with a variety of choices from tacos to burgers. Or maybe just stop by the have a drink on the deck and enjoy seeing the fishing boats bring in the catch of the day.

Decided to try Captain Jule's Hurricain in Mineola, Little River.
Never had Shrimp and Grits and thought I would give it a try after seeing them served in other restaurants. Came out and it looked like slop. It was a bowl of soft rice with a sprinkle of shrimp, 3 medium shrimp and a few chopped up pieces mixed with about 4 or 5 thin slices of sausage about $22. The bowll could have fit in an 8-10 oz glass. It was failrly tasty but the sauce could have come from a can of gravy. I was most disappointed. I tasted my wife's dish of fried scallops and they were very salty and the grease tasted like it had been around for some time. Her dish was $18.95.
Very disappointed. I'd be afraid to go back since I know of so many other places in Little River and Calabash that have better food for a better price. I do like eating on the water, but the view is not special at all, with nothing but commercial boats blocking any kind of beauty. The piers are falling apart and for the money you can do much better. Sorry Mr. Joe, but you need to do better than that.

Was in the area and planned to use a discount coupon from a local attraction book, but found them closed for the season, sign said "See you in mid-February". We will stop back in the spring.

Our first time here after our Mom had been talking about it for ages based on many trips here during holidays. It didn't disappoint. Sat on the back deck overlooking the water. Kitchy and atmospheric. Excellent service. Engaging and friendly. Fantastic fried green tomatoes and then wonderful shrimp po boys. Add a bottle of cold white wine and it made for an excellent and relaxing lunch. Shrimp were so fresh and perfectly cooked. Absolutely loved it! A little gem off the beaten path.

Well, I was hoping that some friends who had lived there had set me up with good spot. But, was disappointed. Great out on deck. Nice setting. But, food was very average. Not a person in our crowd was impressed. Fried is fried. Blackened seafood was better but very mild. I expected more spicy. Sauces came out in little pre-packaged plastic cups. Never a good sign. Would I go back? Only if I could not find another place on the Little River to try out. I have been to numerous little hole in the wall joints that local favor up and down the coast. This one was only a place to try but no reason to return to.
