Description: Not only can you get a juicy roast prime rib at The Parson"s Table, but you can eat it inside a church, too. The location remains very much the same structure that it was in 1885, when Little River Methodist Church was built. The cherished establishment first opened its church doors as a restaurant in the late 1970's and has been serving exquisite American steakhouse fare ever since. The restaurant's decor is positively Southern-charm antique, complete with dark wooden walls, stained glass windows and an original Tiffany glass lamp in the main dining room. An award winning wine list graces The Parson's Table as well as an outstanding fresh seafood selection.

Food was great, however if you are not a "golfer" or a "golfing type family", the service was terrible. We were basically 2nd class patrons. I would not recommend this restaurant at all!!

This restaurant is close to Myrtle Beach and well worth the drive. It is a great place to go for special occasions, or just to get away from the vacation crowd. Intimate setting with specials that change daily. Chef owned and operated and you see him checking out the guests if it a slower night.

Parsons Table exceeded our Expectations. Have been wanting to try this place for a few years, and are glad we finally did. Our service and meal were excellent. We started out with a nice bottle of wine, Etude (we call it our at-etude adjustment) as we were celebrating my husbands birthday. Our waiter was very professional yet friendly, I think his name was Tony. He told us the specials, then gave us some time to relax and enjoy our wine before ordering. This was a very leisurely dinner, which was nice, didn't feel rushed on any of our courses.

We ended up ordering the special app which was a cold plate. Shrimp Cocktail, Smoked Salmon, and Raw Oysters. We savored every bite. The smoked salmon was so fresh (made in house), The shrimp were huge, and the oysters came with a nice vinegrette. The plate was garnished with pickled onions, capers, and kalamata olives.

The app was followed by a house salad, served with an extra bowl to the side if you wanted more. We liked the way the salad was prepared with the house dressing. Bread consisted of a basket of hot dinner rolls and sweet corn bread.

Our entrees were both delicious. I had the Seafood Pesto. Sea Scallops, crab, shrimp, mussels, penne, in an oyster creamy pesto. It was really outstanding. The scallops were cooked so perfectly, amazing, especially in a pasta dish things tend to get over cooked. Also liked that the proportion of the pasta to seafood was on the smaller side so that the seafood and the pesto sauce really stood out. My husband had the Filet Mignon au Poivre. It was served rare, as he had asked for, and came with fettucini alfredo. The meat was very tender and good. Both came with a side of green beans that were very tender and tasty.

We both saved room for dessert. I had the chocolate mousse which had kahlua and he had the NY Cheesecake. Both were fresh and worth saving room for. And the cheesecake came with a little candle for my husbands birthday. It was a nice unexpected touch.

The service throughout was excellent. Formal yet relaxed if that makes any sense. We would recommend this any time, but especially for an occasion. We will make this a regular destination on future trips to the NMB area. Will also consider trying out the happy hour, as the bar area was nice and would give us a chance to order more of that smoked salmon, yum.

Well...the decor is nice-an old church with additions, and stained glass windows. Our server was a young guy, Nick, and quite good for his age. The thing about dinner service was that it took a full two hours. I guess some are OK with this. Also on the appetizer, the oysters were fouled and had to be sent back(I had already eaten one). Maybe nobodys fault, but it happened. Crab cakes were so-so, beef rib dish was great, shrimp and grits were a litle too pretentious, grouper pretty good. Conclusion? a mixed bag... one man's opinion. thanx.
