“Great Location and Cookies”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

Stayed here many years ago and this a great spot to stay in Charleston. Close to Isle of Palms and the city and not to far from Folly. They have a great breakfast and cookies always at the front desk. The two older ladies at the front desk were always frazzled and overwhelmed but the young male at nights was always very helpful. We enjoy our stay and rooms were very nice. Just wish they had refrigerators.

We stayed here because they had a park-and-cruise program where you get a ride to the cruise ship pier in nearby Charleston and leave your car at the hotel during the cruise. Nice arrangement. We then stayed two days after we returned.
The room was good, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff was cheery and welcoming.
Not the case with the front desk staff. They were for the most park sullen, and apathetic. When we arrived back from the cruise our room was not ready, altho they knew we would be arriving that morning. No apology, just a blank uncaring statement that check in time was 3 pm- it was 9:30 when we arrived. When we had problems we seemed to get a "script" right out of the corporate "procedure manual", not a genuine human response. Would a little empathy hurt? Altho they knew we were waiting and we kept them apprised of our location, we didn't get notified of the room being available until we went back and asked after noon.
The telephone in the room didn't work, and it was fixed. the desk clerk wrote down the request on a piece of paper and said she'd tell the repair man. "Although I haven't seen him today" she said- "Well- when will the repair be made?" I asked - "Well. I'll give him the order as soon as he appears" It seemed as if "customer service" was not one of the factors in the desk lady's annual evaluation. She was like talking to a wall.
Patriots
Point, where the hotel is located is a great place to find restaurants without going into Charleston. In addition there is the maritime museum, with the USS Yorktown, a destroyer and a submarine. At the time of our visit there was a reunion group at the hotel who had been crewmen on the submarine in WW2 and up to Vietnam- they were interesting to talk to.
The limo service to and from the pier was on time and efficient.
Our room had two double beds and was charged at $149- I thought that was a little high.

Room Tip: We had both second and first floor rooms, far from the elevators and near them They both seemed mo...

Booked it through hotels.com and was not looking or expecting a high end hotel. However, I was very impressed with the service, building, and mainly cleanliness. For $70 it's by far the best hotel I've stayed at!

When our group meeting was moved to the Quality Inn, I will be the first to admit I was a little skeptical...but BOY WAS I WRONG!!
Our event went off without a hitch. Lisa did everything in her power to make our reunion the best ever. Our event room was great and the staff was very accomodating. There is a fantastic breakfast bar that is included that has everything you could want!! There is plenty of parking and it was very quiet. The location is fantastic with many activities right out the front door. There is a beautiful park nearby and lots of jogging and walking areas including the wonderful Ravenel Bridge. And of course, the USS Yorktown is right down the street, an awesome site and a great place to visit. Let me just say, I have already made my reservations for next year!!

Room Tip: The suites are well worth the little bit extra. They are spacious and very nice!

We were moved to the Quality Inn after the Holiday Inn oversold the rooms. The ambience isn't nearly as nice as the full service Holiday Inn but the staff are friendly and the breakfast buffet features hot eggs, bacon, grits and biscuits and gravy. Yum! The room has been upgraded with a large flat screen TV and nice bedding.

We booked a last minute hotel on Hotwire for Labor Day weekend. This was a nice hotel with a pool, which was a surprise, free parking and a hot breakfast buffet. The lobby is nice, the rooms are clean, and the staff is friendly.

Room was prepaid. Showed up to check in, and no one behind desk for 5 full minutes. Clerk finally shows up and is clearly in no particular hurry to help. She insists room isn't prepaid, though we have reservation email/confirmation #proving otherwise. We give credit card in meantime, thinking we'll get things sorted out in morning. She says first card declined, and then second as well. BOTH cards are actually charged, in ADDITION to original card that prepaid the room. After triple charging us, they say they don't have paperwork they need to reverse charges. Amidst all this, no one apologizes, and no one seems to think it weird that we've been charged three times for the same 2 nights. To be clear, they ACKNOWLEDGED that they triple charged us, and then seemed utterly unconcerned about fixing it.

The tiny rooms and stale breakfast suck, sure. But the incomprehensibly abysmal customer service is why I'd sooner sleep in the street than accept a year's worth of free rooms at this terrible, terrible place.
