“Lovely location, great people, clean rooms!!!”
Reviewed 14 October 2010

We stayed here while visiting Charleston and were very happy. The staff helped us with directions and restaurants. The breakfast was very good and most of all our room was very clean. That usually decides it for us---if it's clean---we'll stay, if not....we're gone!!

This was our second stay at this location. What surprised me the most was the staff remembered my face. There is around the clock coffee available and it is outstanding. It is not your typical chain hotel. The rooms are up to date and comfortable. The bathrooms are large and restocked daily. Best of all you save hundreds by staying merely across the bridge from downtown Charleston.

We spent a night here after staying in a boutique hotel in downtown Charleston. I was fully prepared for the typical chain-hotel experience, but this place far outpaced my expectations.

We got to the hotel 4 hours ahead of check-in time. We didn't want to sit around to wait for a room, so the staff allowed us to lock our bags in a secure closet behind the desk. We had some leftovers from the previous night's dinner, and the manager even put those in the staff refrigerator for us.

Rooms were very large with 42" flat-panel TVs, mini fridges and a microwave. The built-in desk even had a rolling cart that you could use as a desk by the bed. Very clean. Up-to-date bathrooms, which were spotless. The bed was super comfy.

The free breakfast had a nice variety of continental offerings (the usual pastries, cereals, oatmeals) and hot options (eggs, biscuits, gravy, fresh waffles).

Extras:
While checking in, we noticed a little jar by the desk that with a sign that read "Put in your business cards, pick up a luggage tag." We didn't know what to expect, but put two business cards inside. When we checked out the next morning, hotel staff had laminated the cards in nice, wide plastic and strung a heavy-duty plastic cord through a hole punched in the end. No charge.

When we got back that afternoon after a few hours of sightseeing, staff was serving cookies and fresh lemonade in the lobby. The 24-hour coffee/tea station was great too. I also noticed the hotel's soda and snack machines took credit cards, which I'd never seen outside a college campus.

Very close to Patriot's Point, which made it easy to tour the park and catch the tour to Fort Sumter.

When I started looking for a place to stay in the Charleston area, I wanted a place near the Ocean but we decided to stay a little closer in. Mt Pleasant is a very nice area. Won't mind living there. we got a round easily. Short drive into the city for dinner or sightseeing and close to the water. the hotel was roomy. Breakfasts were good with something hot and different everyday. Only negative is the weather was so hot the water in the pool was quite warm.

My family and I went to Mt Pleasant/Charleston for a family vacation. We had a wonderful time. Our stay at the Hampton Inn was good, but definitely not the standard of cleanliness in which I've come to expect from Hampton Inns. First, the "stuff good".. The hotel reception was absolutely superb. Very friendly, helpful, cheerful and you couldn't ask for better service. The breakfast bar area is small, but is well maintained. Brenda, the staffmember who attends to the bar was very pleasant and helpful. If something was missing, she readily restocked the item quickly. This Hampton provided a nice surprise in that they provide coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and fresh fruit (apples/bananas) 24 hours a day. In the afternoon around 5 o'clock, they provide refreshing cold lemonade and choc chip cookies. The pool area is not very large, but the pool and tables surrounding the areas is clean and well maintained. As mentioned in other reviews, this is an older hotel, but the service you receive helps you to forget those things. Now, the not so good... The hallway on the third floor (along the wall) had debris that looked like it was collecting day by day. I was surprised to see that no one cleaned it without being prompted. One of the bed pillows in our room had a blood stain from a previous guest. We threw the pillow off to the side (as it was a smaller pillow) and carried on with everyday living. Also, I was putting on my earrings one morning and dropped one...only to find the earring and a very old stale cookie... I know this may sound petty and for the other great services we received, it was not a major problem. It's just not the cleanliness that I've come to enjoy at other Hampton Inns. Overall, despite these issues... (which I'm sure will be addressed) this is a good hotel with great staff . Also, you can't beat a free breakfast, closeness of proximity to Charleston and a host of other restaurants within 5 to 10 mins away!

Stayed two days and two nights. Great location, clean rooms, comfortable beds, right by Patriots Point, and the bridge across the harbor to Charleston. Ice cold A/C, good complimentary breakfast and newspapers, very nice hotel and quiet.

Stayed there the week of 4th of July. The hotel itself is in a very good and quiet location in good repair. You don't hear any noise from the hwy but you are right off of it. The rooms are quiet and a good size. However if you're going to stay here based on the hotel website claiming to have the Cloud Nine beds - beware - because they are not the Cloud Nine beds. They are an average mattress. They are bouncy and you can almost feel the springs because there is little padding. Not soft or plush by any means. If they have these mattresses at all, they are not in all rooms. Also the front desk assistance leaves something to be desired. When we asked to stay one more night, they reserved us the "last room". We got a checkout bill the next morning. When my husband spoke to the same person who booked the room for us the day before, he acted like he never saw my husband before and didn't know what he was talking about! No apologies, no assistance to try and fix it - nothing. Luckily another clerk came and fixed the situation. So if you decide to stay here try to get a promotional rate otherwise it's overpriced for what you get.
