“Camping and Dancing.”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Oconee State Park has everything a normal state park has and more. In general State Parks are well maintained, on gorgeous property, beautiful lakes, and great amenities, but this one had something we had never experienced. Square Dancing! On Friday night starting Memorial weekend there is square dancing in the barn from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. It has been a tradition there for over 65 years. It was something we would have never done and so happy we joined in on the fun. There were folks from 3 years old to 89 years old out there laughing and following along. We had so many belly laughs and a memory that will be forever in our minds. If you go to Oconee don't miss out on the fun. Step out of your comfort zone and give it a try. The park also has fishing, paddle boats, canoe rental, mini golf, and great hikes all walkable from your camp site. WE LOVED OCONEE STATE PARK!!! We will be returning again.

“Great Park!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

This park is a great place to go for the weekend. We stayed in a tent and enjoyed our campsite. There were plenty of good hiking trails and canoes for rent. Mini golf and ping pong were also available. This was an all around enjoyable place to go camping especially if you like to go hiking!

“Love this place ”

I have stayed in the cabins at Oconee about half a dozen times including this weekend. The cabins are rustic, having been built by the Civilian Conservation Corps but still with the comforts of home including central heat and air. The 20 cabins are spread along the edge of the lake. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing. Also, as an added bonus, only 20 minutes from our whitewater outfitter for the Chattooga River. Just perfect.

“This is a must-visit!”

Oconee State Park is a jewel within a jewel. It is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, has a beautiful lakes and tons of trails that range from Very Easy to Moderately Difficult, and that also connect to the Foothills Trail which is a flat to rolling almost 80 mile trail that will eventually reach the sea. The foliage in the Spring and Fall is spectacular. The drive to the park is serene and gorgeous. The main office and the people who work in the store are awesome.

“Another Nice SC State Park”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

We camped here in February, so the rate is less than peak season. Another SC campground built by the CCC back in the late 1930's. Lots of outdoor activities. There are 2 lakes, with the campground on one, and rental cabins (19) on the other. Many boats to rent on both lakes for fishing and a swimming area with diving dock on one lake. Lots of well maintained hiking trails. They are building a nice parking area for access to the Foothills Trailhead (a 76 mile trail through northern SC). The roads through the campground were well maintained with gravel, and one section is fully paved. Received Verizon data 2 bars LTE, good cell phone reception, and 10 channels OTA TV. The bathrooms are old but well maintained and clean with lots of hot water. The only issue I had was with the dump site. The opening was a very large diameter pipe with a screen to keep large debris out. The 'standard' dump hose just rests on top of this screen and when the dump valve is opened, things get messy real fast. It is totally different than any other dump site I've seen. This is highly unsanitary and needs to be fixed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
