We would highly recommend this hotel. The service was excellent! The hotel upgraded our room to lake front and what a nice view! Our room was extremely clean. Breakfast bar had a wide variety of choices. Waffles were delicious! We would definitely stay again.

I stayed here for business last week during the "ice storm." My stay was very nice overall! Staff, room, breakfast, coffee, were all satisfying! Hotel staff went out of their way to find out which restaurants were open during the storm & gave guests a list of the locations!

everything was perfect, the whole staff, front desk,breakfast servers, housekeeping, grounds personnel, everyone was so nice, polite, and helpful, like we were the only people there, they took time to answer and chat, the rooms were clean and fresh, the whole experience was great

Your front desk staff was excellent. Wish I could remember all their names. They definitely take pride in this Hotel. One was Robin We had stayed here a year ago, same weekend. (Super Bowl), never had to leave the parking lot to watch the game. Very cozy atmosphere, decorated beautifully. Great breakfast and breakfast area. We have stayed at several and other Hilton Hotels...you can't beat the Hampton Bed!

We had 9 rooms for our business. Our check in was fast.
Hotel is new so rooms were in great shape.
Breakfast was good.
The fitness room was lame with equipment that needed repair but they offered free access to a 24 hour real fitness club a mile away.
The hotel is part of a complex with lots to do nearby but it is not at the beach if that is what you want.

It was an absolute pleasure to have you and your group as our guests, and we hope that your visit to Myrtle Beach was a successful one! It is wonderful to hear that our front desk was at their efficent best and that check in was a breeze even with a nine room reservation- this is truly the high level of service that we strive to provide! In regards to our 24 hour fitness room, I am happy to report that we have addressed the minor repairs needed for both our stationary bike and treadmill. I regret if this hindered your workout in any way, but hope that you were able to visit our friends at the Planet Fitness nearby (they are the best!) while we awaited service in this area. Again, thank you for your feedback! We hope you will visit us again soon!

I planned a surprise birthday getaway trip for my daughter and two year old grandson born on the same day in January. I remembered my daughter had mentioned how lovely the Hampton Inn @ Broadway in Myrtle Beach, SC appeared, by driving past on many occasions, advertising, and great reviews from previous guest. When we (myself, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson- yes, I paid extra for all parties to stay in the room) arrived at the Hampton Inn about 4:00PM Friday January 24, 2014, the front desk employee was professional, very helpful, and provided excellent customer service. Our room was located only fourteen doors down the hall from the registration desk, main entrance, and breakfast area. As we expected our room was nice, clean, and had a beautiful view of the water area and ducks which thrilled my grandson who spent several hours watching them from the hotel window since it was a little too chilly to go over to Broadway at the Beach. We expected the cool weather and wind since we are locals, less than an hour from Myrtle Beach. All was well during the weekend until Sunday January 26, 2014 at 2:00 AM(EST), I’m still trying to understand and get answers to questions of the events that occurred and we were unfortunate to experience that frightening morning of January 26, 2014 at 2:00 AM(EST).

We were awaken from a sound sleep by a loud knock on our room door and a man’s voice yelling “open the door” at 2:00 AM January 26, 2014. My son-in- law went to the door, of course did not open it, and tried to tell the man that he was at the wrong room. The person then started screaming louder and at one point made the statement “I’m going to kill you if you don’t let me in”. By this time the person outside the door was screaming and violently kicking the door like an out of control mad man or possibly intoxicated individual. In the room, we were in fear of our lives. The screw on the security lock was loose. We tried to get the room telephone to work and could not get a dial tone on the phone, then tried to locate a local number to call the front desk located fourteen rooms down the hall. We did not think to look on the room phone to find the local number. How could we? There was a maniac outside our door threatening our lives and continued to violently kick our room door, we had no way of knowing if he was armed with weapons, drunk, or crazy. Finally, the room phone worked and I tried to call the front desk and lost phone service. By this time I honestly feared the person was about to succeed in kicking the door in. At last I was able to get a dial tone and reach the front desk and my conversation was “please send someone to room 214 there is a person outside my door and I am in fear of my life.” After a couple minutes I heard voices in the hall and the kicking stopped. I called to the front desk and ask what was going on and the person named James told me that security was questioning the man from outside our door to see if they should call the police. About twenty minutes later I received a phone call from James and he told me that the person was asked to leave. Shortly after the call from the hotel employee telling me that the person was ask to leave the hotel. My family and I heard a male voice coming from the room above ours discussing how he was at the wrong room earlier and told his friends what happened. I do not believe the person outside the door ever left the property.



I watched my family sitting in a room trying console each other about the event that occurred. My heart broke as I watched my two year old grandson sit in the middle of the bed and tremble with fear from this ordeal. As I watched my grandson who loves to travel and stay in hotels, I could not help from wondering how this would affect him in the future as we travel for work, school, and pleasure. At that point I wasn’t sure how I, my daughter, or my son-in-law would handle this in future travels and hotels stays. I needed and deserved answers! Still unnerved around 3:30AM, I dressed and walked the short path to the front desk and ask to speak with the employees involved in the altercation. I needed answers for myself and family’s peace of mind and sense of security before we could go to sleep in a hotel where we were so negatively violated.

I was not prepare for what happened next. I ask to speak to James since he was the employee I spoke with during the violation. My conversation was “I am XXXX XXXXXXX from room 214 and I need some answers about what occurred tonight because I should feel safe in your hotel and I don’t at this point.” I wasn’t prepared for what James said, “There’s not much I can offer you this late about the room.” I looked at James and told him I’m not looking for free, I can pay for my room and that I was appalled at the fact he even said that. I was still experiencing fear from what happened and an employee makes a statement like that… WOW! He told me that the person was ask to leave the property. I ask what did that mean. No answer. He told me in front of another man working there that I could contact the general manager but he wasn’t at work because it was three thirty in the morning. The general manager took these things seriously and then he looked at the other employee and told him I could contact cooperate and ask the other employee to get me the information. I told James the general manager could call me and I was sure I could find corporates address because I was very resourceful. I wrote my cell phone number on the back of the hotel business card gave it to James and walked away. Stayed awake the remained of the night because I wasn’t about to the parking lot in the dark to load luggage not knowing what happened to this person from outside our room door.


My questions of this unfortunate event are:
1.Why didn’t your security and front desk employees at 2:00AM fourteen doors down the hall from my room hear this maniac?
2.Were they at work on break or sleeping?
3.Why didn’t they notice this person’s behavior when he came in the entrance?
4.What was wrong with the telephone?
5.Was the security lock screws loose due to neglect or from the maniac kicking the door?
6.Why didn’t security come to my room and take a report and reassure us that all was well?
7.Was the police called? If not. Why not? This should have been, in the very least, disorderly conduct.
8.If I remember correctly… after September 11, this would have been classified as a terrorist attack because of the treat on a person/person’s life.
9.Where are the security and police reports and when can you fax me a copy for my records?
10.Why would a hotel employee be so insensitive and assume I was after something free, when all I wanted was peace of mind?
11.Why was it okay for my family to experience this type of violation and stay awake most of the night?
12.Why was there so much concern about the general manager not working at 3:30 AM and not the safety of my family? I didn’t expect the GM to be there.
13.Why would an employee tell me that the GM took this type of situation seriously?
14.Why didn’t this employee take this situation more seriously?
15.How many times do violations this extreme occur to the guests and are swept under the rug?
16.How did your hotel employee make all the decisions about this violation without any consent from me, the primary room holder of room 214?
17.What happened to this policy? As stated by the Hampton website, “100% Hampton Guarantee. Our guarantee promises friendly service, clean rooms, comfortable surroundings, every time. If you’re not satisfied, we don’t expect you to pay. That’s our commitment and your guarantee. That’s 100% Hampton”

18.Is the Hampton at Broadway exempt from the policy?



I’m certainly not satisfied. I am very disappointed that my family had to endure this type of treatment not only from a violent perpetrator but from an unprofessional Hampton Inn employee. It saddens me when I think of the beauty my daughter once saw in your hotel and the impression she has now and that we chose your hotel to celebrate two birthdays. Our birthday weekend memories, now may be reoccurring nightmares of this experience. This is so very sad because it is a beautiful hotel. “As they say beauty is only skin deep.”


I would like to give you one last chance to correct this wrong and the answer is not a free night’s stay.

I love love love this hotel. The staff is awesome! Service is awesome, location is what??? AWESOME. There is not a better place to stay in Myrtle Beach. The rooms are spacious, soooo clean and fresh. You walk out the back steps and you are in the heart of "BROADWAY at the beach"! Always coffee in the lobby, breakfast is really good too. Everyone so friendly from front desk to housekeepers. We will go back for sure!

Room Tip: Rooms ending in 17 or 18 are larger!
