There was nothing wrong with the property in general, if you do not care about pools, lack of "resort" restaurants, luxury appointments in your room, and don't mind walking a block and half to the beach. That said, the charge per night is way too high based on what should be a 2 to 2.5 Star property. The rating of 1 is for the price to value of the room. The property is dated and no where near as nice as similarly priced and rated hotels on other sites. Pay for this hotel what you would pay for other similar 2.5 star rooms not 3.5 star rooms, since it not even close to the comparable hotels/resorts in Myrtle Beach.

Room Tip: The hotel in front of the Horizon (Grand Shores) is rated lower, but it is on the beach, has better pools, and has restaurants included in it. Book there or a real 3.5 star property for less money, since it's a better value. We stayed at the Sheraton Plantations, which has the same rating, and it was hands down nicer. Just not on Beach. If you want on the beach, book something like Breakers or similar property.

We recently stayed at the Horizon on 77th in Myrtle Beach. We rented a 2 bdrm unit on the penthouse level via VRBO. The unit was very well decorated and the furniture was very comfortable. The unit was one of the few on the back side of the hotel, but had a very good view of the beach. If you want a hotel in a quiet area of Myrtle Beach, this is a great option. It is located near an affluent area of the beach and does not have the loud "hustle and bustle" of the main drag of Ocean Blvd. However, it is still very close to everything in central Myrtle. The complex is very modern and we found it to be very clean and well kept. While the pools are fairly basic, we spent a lot of time at all 3 of them and were very pleased. Ideal for young kids with the lazy river and outdoor and indoor pool options. We also tried the indoor pool at the sister property next door and liked it too. We would definately stay there again if we come to Myrtle Beach.

Room Tip: Higher is better (view of the beach).

Thank you for such nice comments. We feel our resort is indeed a "great place for a beach vacation", but it means so much to hear it from our guests. Thank you for choosing us and please return soon.

The staff was all very friendly and even thought the hotel wasn't right on the beach we had a wonderful view from out balcony and it was a fast walk. The room itself was pretty dated, the beds were very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on and the couch was a bit dirty looking so we just avoided sitting on it. There were some random scuff marks on the walls also. For the most part though the room was fairly clean and the kitchen had plenty of dishes/pans to use. The parking garage was set up a bit odd but there was always plenty of parking. Most the days we put the do not disturb sign on our door because we did not want staff coming in when we were not there, but one of our beach chairs did go missing and we know it was there before we left to go to the boardwalk. The lady at the front desk was very nice though and helped us fill out a report for it. The pools were small but there was three of them so they weren't ever to crowded. It would be nice if there as someone around to monitor them though because they kids could be quite loud and reckless out there. Overall our stay was pretty good and not a bad price for 6 nights. I could see if staying here again if we came back for a family vacation again.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room from the 3rd floor up. If you are on the pool side it can be loud out on the balcony and you don't want people to be able to see in your rooms

We was moved to this property from their sister property. We had a three bedroom 2 1/2 bathroom room 612. The front desk was very nice they even let us look at the room before we checked in. This condo was simply beautiful . When we walked in we was amazed at how nice and clean the condo was. It was beautifully decorated and the master bathroom had a jacuzzi, stand up shower and his and her sinks which we loved. The kitchen was all stainless steel and very nice, this condo was very spacious and even though it was only ocean view it had a very good view of the ocean. The lazy pool and indoor and outdoor pools were very nice and clean and well maintained. I really have nothing negative at all to say about this resort. The only thing I can think of that might be wrong with this hotel is it is in the wrong location , this property is too beautiful to only be a ocean view hotel it deserves to be a oceanfront property because it is just that nice. I will definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 612 is beautiful with a good view of the ocean

I am so happy the staff was able to get you in a condo that made you so happy. That's what vacationing is all about and we love hearing you felt that way about Horizon. Our residential tree top view is very unique. It is great seeing the ocean and green trees instead of a big building. I do hope you will return to enjoy our resort again and thank you for your review.
