This place should be closed. Really hard to believe Choice Hotels allows this dump to be in their hotel brand. Really really really (3 reallys) bad.
Elevator had no inspection information at all. If you get stuck in there you're doomed. The Pool was so nasty no one ever got in it. Not even to rinse feet. It was horrible.
The first floor wood is rotted and falling off due to water problems and years of neglect. The hotel rooms were so bad we slept on a sheet on top of the bed. Couldn't cancel the reservation as we had paid in advance to seeing this dump.
Absolute dump of a hotel.
Felt sorry for staff. Only coffee offered at lobby and not really sure it was safe to drink.
Room was beat to death. Really really bad.
Hotel should be closed. Maybe it is and no one told staff. ?

Room Tip: There are no good rooms. Save your money and sleep on the beach. Safer and cleaner.

This motel was built around 1958 and if you are looking for a 5 star accommodation this is not it. But if you are looking for a good dollar value with clean rooms and great staff this could be a place for you.
The hot tub and the swimming pool are great and even the side view is a good ocean view once you step outside. There is a small pizza place right next door so if you get hammered with rain you would not have to go far to have good food

The PROS:
Beds comfortable, View, Overlook the Ocean (East view), A/C worked in the Living Area, Two TV's, Price

The CONS:
No A/C in bedroom, Parking (lack of and cramped), Filth in common areas, Chirping smoke detector, exploding fireworks all night until 5 am, broken rail guards, broken entrance door, general condition of room renovations.

OK folks... this was our anniversary and my wife had never been to Myrtle Beach and she is not as mobile as some, due to knee replacement surgery and related hip and back pain. We wanted an oceanfront hotel, with a room overlooking the beach. They wanted to put us in a cubby-hole with no ocean view. NO, Upgrade? How about a suite on the sixth floor and the elevator only goes to the 5th floor... 14 steps to climb. NO, Upgrade? 4th Floor SMOKING (we are non-smokers). Took it, with a bottle of their odor-reducing spray! The view was awesome to view from the moment you woke up until you decided not to look anymore (we reside in rural KY),or retired to the comfortable beds (this suite had 2 doubles, not a king). The air conditioner worked well in the living area, but there was none available in the bedroom (nothing too hot going on in there anyway, right?). We were having our own fireworks going on.. oh no, that was outside on the beach until 5 am (fireworks are illegal on the beach at anytime, let alone from midnight until 5 am. Oh, and if the fireworks booms didn't get you, the high-pitched chirping of the smoke detector every 15 seconds, would. (unplugging it from the electric and removing the battery didn't stop it!!! It had a residual power circuit which lasted about 10 minutes I found out on the second day). There was a TV in each area... however they were old and the picture was hardly viewable. No prob... the view out the window was awesome.

When we arrived in the early afternoon for check-in, there was parking right at the front door... but that was the last we ever saw that. There were too many rooms for the car spaces or I guess you were not supposed to drive to this motel. The parking overflow was down a level, in the motel next door, the desk clerk told us. And the parking places were so cramped and squeezed that we fully expected to be filing an insurance claim when we arrived home.

The room door latch didn't work until the desk clerk stated that some rooms you just had to jiggle the latch a bit, and pull in the opposite direction. Dang, I don't know why I didn't know that. I am sure others know this when they arrive. Sure enough, it worked pretty well if you just remembered to do what the desk clerk said. You know, the desk clerks continually proved to be very helpful with the right info... but, at the wrong times for us.

Be ye careful when using the common areas to get to your room. Some places the railing has been broken so long that the police yellow tape was missing... however, other places must have been more recently renovated with the caution tape... it was still present. Speaking of renovations, the room itself was renovated at least half a dozen times over the years... it was plainly visible everywhere. Holes, some patched, some not. Room additions, add-ons, repairs, etc. don't have to come close to matching in Myrtle Beach apparently. And teens must have been hired to do all the work. Cables can run anywhere and electrical switches and outlets and lights don't have to work... after all the view from the balcony is awesome.

And don't worry about the trash everywhere... if you're lucky, a hurricane will come through and blow or wash it all away before YOU stay here. Better yet... would a hurricane or even a tornado directly hit this motel and do us all a favor.

I gave it a rating of 3, instead of 1... because the view out the window/ over the balcony was awesome... even though it rained half the time... and it was our anniversary!

We paid over 350.00 for suposed suite You know an upgraded room !!!!

Upon arrival we were asked to pay an additional 9.00 for booking online. The room was not ready at check in time.

We were in room 608 which there is no elevator too so we had to climb stairs with luggage. We were greeted by a barefoot housekeeper and her shopping cart that was the housekeeping utility cart.

I honestly think our room was as clean as it could be for the run down condition of the hotel.
The door to our room had been kicked in and clearly never been repaired.
The window air conditioner leaked continually into the room because the AC is not hooked up to a drain. We woke up to find anything that was left in that room on the floor was completely wet.
There was a light that was off our balcony which kept us from really enjoying it at night because of the bugs.

The hot tube is in the basement next to the parking garage. Parking is available but tight.

I wouldn't stay here again if it were the last place at the beach. I was really disappointed considering what I paid for and what I got. We have stayed at the Viking Inn and the Ocean Dunes and we were very happy with both those locations. Safe Travels :)

The man at the front desk will take you money!! Make sure you get a receipt for EVERYTHING! If you're under 25 you pay a additional fee, which is understandable, but GET A RECEIPT! The girls in the office are amazing and sweet. Rooms where dirty but you get what you pay for I suppose. Just please, stay somewhere else if you can

Was looking for an affordable pet friendly hotel on the beach over the 4th of July. I paid almost $800.00 for five nights and this is what I got:
dressers missing knobs, broken cabinets that do not shut, cockroaches in the room, garbage and vomit in the common areas, holes in the walls in the room, mold in the shower knob, stains and cigarette burns on the sheets and towels, dog area infested with cigarette butts and litter(bags to dispose of dog waste were empty and never filled the entire trip) and fence used as a clothes line, gang related sayings carved in elevator wall, names carved in hotel room wall, house-keeping smokes in the hall way outside rooms and uses grocery shopping carts for their cleaning supplies (towels here are impossible to come by- had to request them everyday and half the time didn't get them or housekeeping), cracked/broken air conditioners(the one in our room sounded like a lawnmower), threatening letter to tow our car in the hotel parking lot if we didn't park in the lower garage when we were told to park on upper and lower was for overflow, caution tape on railing holes all over property, Tub was clogged and carpets were dirty/sticky. Lastly, the room reaked of a chemical smell. Beware! Look at you room and the hotel before you sign their no refund waiver. You will be stuck like me especially if its a holiday weekend. Unless you are willing to forfeit your vacation.

I was extremely disappointed. I didn't mind how outdated the check in area was. When we got up to the room it took several attempts to get in the room. The room was even worse. Hair in the bed, dirty washcloth in the shower, hair in the shower, stains on the bed the list is endless! I was mad at first but after deciding it was too nasty for our family to stay we packed up our car and drove 4 hours back home. We were refunded our money. I truly feel sorry for this hotel. Get it together and get it cleaned up!
