We stayed at the Dunes Pointe Plantation Resort/Dunes Pointe Condos in July 2009. First, be warned that the location is not in central Myrtle Beach, the location is isolated, and is at least four (4) blocks from the beach. The main strip (main activity/Downtown MB) is at least 10 miles or 10-15 minutes drive along Route 17 Business. Also be warned that each condominium unit is individually owned and operated with a vacation house rental service providing management. The rooms we had a a stale, musty smell in all the rooms, so we had to clean from top to bottom upon arrival.
The number of rooms (sleeping and bath) are as described, but the beds are small. The amenities listed were missing in several rooms, most notably televisions and patio funiture (dirty in other rooms). The towels and sheets are worn, so bring your own or a sleeping bag)! The kitchen was well equipped as described with pots, pans, utensils, plates, glasses, etc.
The indoor and outdoor pool and tennis courts are a great feature and can only be accessed via a key. The grounds are well maintained and if you have any mechanical problems (plumbing, no hot water), maintenance is fast to respond.
With its problems, the resort is not a bad place to stay, as long as what is being described is being represented. The location is 5 minutes from Walmart, Food Lion, Tanger Outlets, Souvenirs, etc.
