Arrived on Friday and staying until Monday. (OCT 4-7). Checked in at front desk. A very polite young man by the name of Tray waited on us. Seemed to be a problem with the total cost of the stay. I booked this thru Smokey Mountain Getaway..Problem resolved, I paid a few "cents" more and was upgraded to a condo...Didn't have queen beds, full beds..which I found out upon arriving in room. Stained carpet, hole in sofa, towels and wash cloths like sandpaper. But the rooms were clean for the first day..Second day, beds weren't made, towels not exchanged until we called front desk at the end of the day. Inside at pool area, hot tub very dirty, pool towels again very rough. Full beds not very comfortable. Staff friendly...except for one staff member that made a comment to me while standing outside looking up at the various floors, and said he was looking to see"what idiots were leaving their sliding door open to the balcony". He was talking about the guest....and I was a guest. He was repairing the gate lock leading from the pool to the beach. For the price it isn't a bad hotel...with some "tlc" it could be a better place. Good location, had ocean view. Kitchenette was nice in our room...No continential breakfast.

Our room 918 had a great view, nice kitchen and beds. Balcony was were nice. The room has been remodeled in the last 1-2 years and is nice. It didn't have enough pans for 4 people, but we brought our own skillet. Biggest problem is that the carpet needs to be deep cleaned a few times each year, granted we were at the end of the season - but you feet turned black from the carpet. Staff was great and the price was very good. We would stay again after this 4 night visit.

Room Tip: Pay extra for the oceanfront, get a high as possible, and away from the elevators noise.

I stayed from Monday to Saturday at the Palmetto Shores. The staff (Briana and Torey) at the front desk was very nice they always took the time to address my concerns and make me feel as a important guest. The housekeeping and other staff were always friendly and nice. While the hotel is a little older I found it to be clean and very well located.

Room Tip: Book a room away from the elevators as they tend to get a little loud at night.

me and a friend booked this room for the fall bike rally. the rates were excellent and the room was really clean but a little dated. all the staff was very courteous and very helpful. the motel is within walking distance of the boardwalk and several restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: th the the motel rooms.e atlantica condos are more up to date and very comfortable but for the money...

We have stayed at the Atlantica before and it was great but this time we stayed at the Waves and it was horrible/Will never stay again. The room smelled awful and all they wanted to do was spray air freshner in it.The heated pool was as cold as the pool outside/The jets in the hot tub did not work/The sheets on the bed were put on wrong and had stains on them/The walls were dirty/the cabinet drawers would fall out when you opened them/house keeping sucked. They never one time came to our door. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom and the tub was nasty. We will never and I repeat never stay at this place again. We ever went to the front desk a couple of times about this and all they wanted to do was send house keeping up to spray the room.It was a terrible experience.

Room Tip: I would not recommend anyone stay at the Waves

The stay was for me and my husband. I sm in a wheelchair so it was ok but we had to use a public access to get to the beach. Shelley made our trip worth while though.it was a good trip overall. The room was ok but wasn't handicap as we knew. She made the trip good for us abd we are thankful!

We found a super cheap fare on Spirit, so we decided to head to MB for a long weekend at the end of September (25-28). After checking rates (and other reviews) we took a chance and booked a King room/partial ocean view at Palmetto Shores. We had a short and early flight, so we arrived at the hotel at 9:30am. Side Note: If you’re staying in the “hotel zone”, there is a nice little airport shuttle run by Coast RTA. It’s $7/per person one way or $10 round trip.

We didn’t expect our room to be ready so early. Good news was that our room was ready, so we could drop our bags and go. The bad news was that there is a $7/day resort fee that Orbitz did not list on their site. Not even in the fine print. I read my confirmation over and over and double checked it when we got there. There was no mention of any resort fee, and this was part of the reason we chose this hotel. I looked at many different resorts in MB, on Orbitz, and all the other resorts that had this fee Orbitz disclosed it. For some reason Orbitz never put this in their fine print. Another couple who checked in after us had the same problem. Not the hotel’s fault. They said to book through Expedia and they include it in their price.

Christon (super nice) checked us in and we took our bags to room 311 in the Waves building which was a king bed, partial ocean view. We got exactly what we booked. The room itself is on the smaller side, which is fine. We didn’t book for the room size. The issue we had was that the ceiling was peeling and pieces had fallen down onto the floor and nightstand by the balcony door. Not sure how housekeeping missed it or if the room was previously vacant and it fell down in the meantime. On our way back out we stopped by the front desk and notified them about the issue. Theresa asked if we wanted to move and we said we were fine with someone just cleaning it up. We returned 4 hours later to find out nothing had been done. So we went downstairs to let them know the ceiling hadn’t been cleaned up. Theresa asked again asked if we wanted to be moved and we considered moving or just getting it cleaned. While we thought about it she started looking to see what else they had available. She gave us keys to look at room 448 in the Coral building. This was an oceanfront 2-queen room. It was definitely bigger then room 311 and there was a full kitchen. As soon as we got back to registration Theresa gave us another key to 316 in the Waves building. This one was right down the hall from our current room, in the same building as registration. 316 was nicer then the 448 so we choose that one. A side note… I would stay away from the Sands building. We walked through this building thinking it was where our room was. The people who complain about trash in the hallways, nasty smells and crappy elevators must have stayed here. This building was a mess.

Our room definitely had a great view. Oceanfront rooms should have that. However, the condition of the room could certainly benefit from some TLC. Although the bedroom furnishings were more modern that the other rooms we looked at, the walls were dirty, they had holes in them from old paintings or pictures that use to be there, the fridge had dents in it, broken toilet paper holder and the carpet was old and dirty. Someone said this hotel could use some serious renovations. I definitely agree. Our shower also didn’t drain. Someone recently posted a picture of their tub after a shower. Our tub looked just like that. These things certainly didn’t damper our trip, as we knew when we booked that this hotel is cheap for a reason. Just some constructive criticism on how they could improve things for their future guests.

Overall, I would give this hotel 2.5 stars. The location and the price are perfect. Within walking distance to everything we needed. The front desk people we checked in with, Christon and Theresa were very nice. Big thanks to Theresa for helping us with our room situation. They always greeted us with a good morning or said hello when we returned. The other front desk people never acknowledged us when they saw us. In fact, I stood right in front of someone for a few minutes, while she counted change. She didn’t look up even once. Finally another guy asked if I had been helped yet.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive place to hang your hat and your expectations aren’t high, this place will work for you. It’s worth it for the cost and location alone. If you need a 4 or 5 star hotel, this is not a place I would take a chance on. You will be highly disappointed.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the Sands building.
