“I have found "my" place to stay in Myrtle!”
Reviewed 22 July 2009

This was our first visit to Sandy Beach. I've been vacationing in Myrtle for 25 years - hotel hopping. No more, this was the best place. Debbie at the front desk was very helpful and professional. I highly recommend this resort to anyone.

This place was AWESOME!! We stayed here for 3 nights. 2 adults, 4 kids and there was more than plenty of room. The room was clean, roomy and provided everything we needed. We did have an issue with the TV in the living area, but maintenance fixed it right away. Considering the location, it was very quiet at night. There does need to be some kind of monitoring of the lazy river because kids were treating it as a regular swimming pool, jumping in and out, using 2 or 3 floats at a time, and just being rude and unruly. There also is a lot of crowding at the pool area and we had to get up at the break of dawn to secure a spot/chair at the pool. There is also no internet in the rooms, only in the lobby, which is very inconvenient. We enjoyed our stay here. It was very relaxing and clean and the staff was wonderful!! Also, the amusement park across the street was FABULOUS and a big hit with the kids and the price wasn't as bad as I imagined! We will definately be back next year!!

Sandy Beach is the best! This was our third time here and we are planning to return next July. Nothing beats the scent of fresh laundry in the room when you return from a day at the beach. The rooms are always clean and inviting, and the staff is so gracious. Our little boy loves checking out all the pools, and playing in the ocean waves with us. With hotel security, lifeguards on duty, and a helpful staff, we feel very well taken care of. I made a lot of use of the fitness room - the scenic view of the street below and the amusement park in the distance made for an enjoyable time on the treadmill. Back on our 10th floor balcony, the view of the ocean is incredible. Everyone looks so happy and relaxed, playing in the waves, throwing a football around, digging holes in the sand... July 4th fireworks were also a bonus for us Canadians. Can't wait to return and make some more memories.

We were very pleased with our stay at SB Resort. We stayed in the Palmetto Tower, ocean view. Room was perfect size for our family of 3. Beds were very comfortable and rooms were very clean. We arrived in MB around Noon and our room was ready, so we gained an extra day on the beach. It was wonderful having a washer and dryer in the room.
Balcony size...if you have an ocean view, there is hardly enough room for the 2 chairs,

Pool...the pools are very crowded and there are never chairs available....we had to put towels on our chairs at 6 am to save a chair.

Elevators were not as slow as I read on previous posts....we stayed on the 19th floor and the wait was always minimal.

Paper Thin Walls...We never heard the people next door except one or two nights when they were in the hall opening their door...other than that very quiet

On Wednesday evening the 2nd Ave Pier shot off fireworks....they were BEAUTIFUL

All in all this was a very nice hotel....our families only complaint is that the pools are very crowded.

We had rented the 2 BR condo with the city/ocean view and it was great. It did look exactly like the pictures. After reading on here about the rooms being noisy by the elevators, we asked for a room away from the elevators and an upper level to avoid the pool noise too. We were on the 18th floor and it was beautiful. Our room was clean and housekeeping came everyday to empty the trash, change towels, and make the beds. The beds were very comfortable and we slept great. The couch bed is a typical pull out bed and not that comfortable. If you are a very light sleeper, you may have some trouble sleeping. You can hear the traffic noise on busy Ocean Blvd. even up on the 18th floor. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our group and we had plenty of room.

The pool area was ok. Since the kiddie pool is in the shade, it is pretty cold. There also seems to be a shortage of chairs around the pool. And as other people mentioned, guests will put their stuff on the chairs and leave it there even when they leave the pool area, we watched people do it. There are chairs and umbrellas on the beach, but you have to rent them either daily or weekly. We didn't do that, we just sat on our towels. The parking across the street really wasn't that bad. Yes, people going to Family Kingdom can also park in one of the lots, but their is a guard there that does save spots for Sandy Beach guests so, make sure you have your hang tag in your car.

Just a couple of negatives, we didn't have nearly enough cookware to cook a meal for 6 people. We only had one pot and one frying pan. However, when I stopped at the front desk and asked them, they were able to give me a few more pieces to use. The clothes line in our bathroom was broken and we only had a hairdryer in one of the bathrooms. I would have also liked an alarm clock in the bedroom, but the hotel did have a wake up call service. Also, there really needs to be a hotel staff person monitoring the pools. We had people playing with a ball in the pool and hit both me and my daughter in the face. There just seems to be a need for some control there.

Overall, I really had a great time there and would go back. You really need a car though, we drove to different things everyday.

We have been staying at the sandy beach for a few yrs. now. We are very picky about where we stay but we never consider any other resorts. We were fortunate enough to get to stay 2 wks this yr. The resort is as close to home as you can get. The rooms are spacious and gorgeous. The staff is wonderful. esp. a guy named "Ken". He was so helpful. Most websites make their rooms look great online but when you get there you're dissapointed because the rooms look nothing like they did on the websites. Well, that's not the case at this resort. What you see online is exactly what you get!!!!!!!!!!!! We love this resort and we are looking forward to our stay next summer. If you want to be totally satisfied at myrtle beach don't hesitate pick this resort. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me.
