My family and I have been to Myrtle Beach a number of times, and kept staying at different places because we couldn't find a place that was near worth the money. Until this time. We stayed at the Waikiki Village, and it is easily the best hidden gem on the Strand. It was small, family-oriented, and we loved it. The pool area was outstanding, and it really felt as if everyone staying there was part of a large family. My ten-year old daughter loved going into the office and working on the jigsaw puzzle they keep in there, and petting the dog. It was a short trip to the beach, had a kitchen in the room......we cannot say enough good things about the Waikiki Village. It is safe to say, from here on out, our place to stay in Myrtle Beach is the Waikiki Village!

We stayed from June 7th -11th, 2008. I'll list the pros and cons.

Pros:
1. We arrived at 10:30 am and they let us check-in. The hotel was never full the entire time despite the fact that it was High School "Senior Week"- might tell you something.
2. Both Harry and Nancy at the front desk were very helpful w/ suggestions on where to eat and go and just friendly in general.
3. Right across the street from the beach.
Cons:
1. This place is NOT clean. There are 2 different maids servicing the whole place and perhaps our maid didn't do as good of a job as the other. Everything is wore out, old and in need of repair. It just felt gross.
2. The pool is tiny. All other hotels in Myrtle Beach have multiple pools (lazy rivers, mini water parks, etc.). We did come for the beach though.
3. If you want free Continental Breakfast (or any breakfast), you had better be satisfied with 1 small tray of muffins (4 muffins) and fudge (I think it was fudge).
4. The water pressure is fine when it is coming out of the tub faucet but when you turn the shower on, it just trickles so plan on taking a really long shower.
5. The high speed internet is slow and sporatic. Had to go to the lobby and even then, my laptop didn't work so had to use their desktop.
6. They will allow families and couples only. A sign is even posted on the door to the lobby. Not a problem for us but thought I would mention it.
7. There are "walk-in" specials at other hotels all up and down Ocean Blvd with prices as cheap as this place with an oceanfront room!
8. Location is not within walking distance from the action in Myrtle Beach.
9. Other hotels advertise activities such as free (current) Movie nights.
10. Several of us in the room had some sort of bites- don't know if this came from the room or from the beach.
Do not stay here.

My wife and I have stayed at the Waikiki 4 times. It always seems to get better with every stay. You will always be treated with respect and you always know if there is a problem it will be taken care of. You will always meet someone new and they will always be nice to you. Walk to the beach or stay at the pool its always convient either way. Many Thanks to Nancy and the staff for their kindness as this is the only place we will stay in Myrtle Beach.

We've stayed here twice now. The Waikiki Village is a clean, well-maintained, older small motel, good for families & quiet couples. The rooms are pretty spacious, & although dated, they are kept clean & in good repair. The staff was hospitable, & they responded very quickly if something needed to be fixed.

I would recommend this place to anyone, & would stay here again. Unfortunately, these small, economical Mom & Pop motels in the Grand Stand area are going the way of the passenger pigeon, giving way to high-end hotels, resorts, condos, & timeshare properties.

My Boyfriend and I stayed at the waikki motel in Aug 07. We loved it. Its very clean and affordable. Its a couple blocks away from Ripley's and across the street from a beach access. I enjoyed my stay there.
