I stayed 5 nights at Monterey Bay Suites with my husband, mother-in-law and 9 week old daughter. Although it certainly isn't luxurious, it was just fine for our first getaway with a newborn baby. The hotel could use a little bit of a facelift as it is an older property, but nothing was overly outdated. As many people mentioned, the parking garage is a bit of an issue. It was a tight squeeze for our large SUV and we had to take our time on the ramps and while parking; but it wasn't that big of a deal. Nervous or inexperienced drivers beware! The elevators were very slow and always packed. We often walked down the parking garage ramps with our strollers to avoid waiting. The pool was a decent size and included a seperate baby pool and tiny lazy river. There is an area of the pool that connects the outdoor section to the covered section that has a hard metal divider on the pool floor (perhaps it was once part of a wall?). I stepped on it the first day and it really hurt! I can't imagine it being very safe for young children. The pool would get pretty dirty by the end of the day; sand, sunblock, floating debris. The pool was open until 11pm which was nice. The outdoor hot tub was lukewarm and therefore not worth using. They also have a rooftop pool and hot tub on the 10th floor that was smaller but was nice enough and quieter than the main one. The free breakfast was actually really good. It's served from 7am-10am, but to avoid lines and lack of tables; it's best to arrive before 9. Eggs were fresh, grits were really good, fruit was delicious. The room was pretty old and outdated. The beds were uncomfortable and the sheets were very hard and crunchy. Kitchen came in handy for snacks and a few meals we had in. The view from the balconey was nice, although more than 2 chairs would have been better and our room didn't have an outdoor table. The tub was pretty dirty looking when we checked in. All the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. Overall, a good place for families looking for a no-frills beach vacation.
