“Great Location Great Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

The wife & I stayed here for our first visit to Myrtle Beach. I love the location as it is hidden out of the way of the hustle & bustle that MB can be. The room had a king bed, a nice flat screen TV, and ample storage for our clothes. While the bed was just a little soft for us, it was very nice. The room also has a safe and mini refrigerator which is nice to keep drinks cold. No microwave or cooking facilities. I believe the hotel was built in 2003, but while you can tell its age has been well maintained. While not opulent, the bath is nice. A shower inside a full tub with shower curtains and granite counters. The cleaning staff is to be commended, because I saw no signs of the all too common "overlooked" areas in the bath. The property is oceanfront, but it is almost a question of why go to the beach. It seems like they have acres of pools, including a water slide for kids of all sizes. Plenty of lounge chairs surround the pools and each has a flag on it to let the staff know you need something. Every employee we encountered always had a smile and a hello. If you looked a little lost, they were quick to ask if you needed anything. All in all a great stay at a very nice hotel.

My husband and I are Marriott rewards members so whenever we travel, we try to stay at a Marriott property. We recently stayed five nights at the Marriott Resort at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach and had a great time. First of all I want to complement the young woman who was working the reception desk when we checked in. I regret not getting her name but she was very nice and check-in was very quick and efficient. We arrived mid-morning and there weres no troubles or delays in accessing our corner oceanfront room which we really appreciated. The hotel is well maintained. My only criticism (and it's not limited to this property or even this hotelier) but resort rooms, in particular, should have separate bath tub and shower facilities. It's a personal issue with me but I don't understand why resort properties don't build rooms with stand alone showers. Moreover, our bathroom was pretty spacious but a small table near the tub would have been nice to set lotions and/or other products one needs in a bathroom instead of stretching the length of the room after exiting the shower. I think some room updates, primarily in the bathroom area, are warranted but overall the room was maintained well. We ate one night outside the hotel bar. Food and service were both good. The weather was a little off the week we were there but we did spend one full day near the pool and that was really relaxing. Overall, this is a very nice property that with a few room updates would be an awesome property. We would return here again. On the food front, Myrtle Beach will never be mistaken as a culinary paradise but we did have fun at Drunken Jack's on Murrell's Inlet and had a good meal at the Flying Fish. The Parson's Table in Little River was very good and for breakfast we highly recommend the Eggs Up Grill (two locations).

Room Tip: Corner oceanfront rooms eighth floor or higher are very nice.

From the time we arrived early for our check-in, and the time we left with a late check-out, we were treated so well by the folks who work at the hotel! Being from Philly, I guess we're just not used to such nice people and great service. The hotel staff were so friendly and allowed us a late check-out on our last day because we had a 6pm flight. They let us drop our bags with the bellhop and use the pool all day, and also gave us access to the spa locker rooms so we could shower and change before our flight. The property is gorgeous! The pool bar was awesome, the bartenders were super friendly and the waitstaff in the pool area was excellent! Napping on a hammock in the shade and listening to the ocean was so amazing. I didn't feel like I was in SC. I felt like I was in the Caribbean! My wife is pregnant and had a prenatal massage at the spa. She said it was fabulous. I highly recommend this resort for families or for couples. I cannot wait to go back and would not consider staying anywhere else. Thank you to the entire hotel staff for such a great time!

The place is great, beautiful
Villas, beach is wonderful. The pools are really beautiful. On caveat is there is no cell Phone access inside and their internet is circa 2000 quality. So if you come here don't expect to get connected to the outside world.

We have stayed here 4 times. Two of those were during Memorial Day weekend which coincides with Black Bike Week. The resort is off of the main roads and away from through traffic, making it ideal to avoid the chaos. The hotel is well maintained, the food and bar choices are good. Plenty of space around the pools and wonderful chairside service. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They only room for improvement would be to have a dress code for the public spaces, especially during bike week.

Room Tip: Opt for the oceanview; it's worth the extra $.

Dear kdwall,

Thank you for your loyalty to the Myrtle Beach Marriott. We are happy to hear that the resort is a little oasis from all of the chaos of Myrtle Beach during Memorial Day weekend. We are always looking for ways to improve, so thank you for your feedback regarding having a dress code. We hope to see you again soon for a 5th stay!
