Our family frequents this hotel two or three times a year. It has stunning outdoor spaces and pools with top notch staff and Marriott full service. We enjoy meals at the ocean front bar, the computer game room for the kids, the spa (and in room spa robe) and the fact that the hotel has a cozy boutique island feel. However a carful walk through the lobby will expose grease spots on the furniture with stuffing popping out of the arm chairs. The fabrics are dated, worn and filthy. Shame! There are no flexible spaces as in the newer Marriott hotels and it is obvious no investments are being made in décor or updated spaces. The on site gift shop is devolving into tired and chintzy. In eight years, I don't think they have changed the menu in the lobby bar. During our most recent visit in June 2014, we were in total shock!, They are serving some kind of boxed premixed iced tea. Really? They think they can get away with this in the SOUTH??? The waiter winced when I returned it as it was undrinkable and said, "I know everyone hates it." This hotel continues to charge the absolute top dollar while thinking their clients are not noticing the slip shod quality. Let's vote with our feet fellow Grand Dunes guests and get this lovely pearl back where it belongs!

Drove down to Myrtle Beach for a brief weekend getaway. The property was beautiful and had all the amenities we needed: clean modern room, nice pool area, pool bar, and beach access. There was plenty of parking and our room was ready even though we arrived before check-in.

Our oceanfront room was clean and the view was wonderful. The decor was a little outdated and the bathroom was spacious but very plain. Loved being able to open the windows and sit on the balcony.

Will definitely return. Have already booked our next weekend.

Room Tip: Oceanfront room are a must!

Beautiful views, excellent restaurants and activities, and a superb staff. My wife and I stayed here for a 4-day Anniversary weekend and we had a very fun time. The location is also great because it is not far from most of the sights and convenient to the main highways.

Room Tip: try to get a balcony room.

Average for a resort. Limited dining options but the food was consistent in quality and the service was good. We did get massages at the spa and I would highly recommend Noel. She was amazing! Front desk staff were all very friendly and professional as well as the valet staff. Great beach!

We stayed here last weekend. Overall, the hotel is very nice and all of the staff we encountered were very cordial. The only negative I have is that the matteress in our room 601 was worn out. When you got in, you sank toward the middle of the mattress. When you got out, it was a climb to get over the steel frame edge. They have a spa onsite, which felt very good after sleeping on their matteress.
The area is secluded from the busy Myrtle Beach activity. The beach area is very nice. There is ample parking with a parking deck to get your car out of the sun.
I would definitely stay again, but would check the mattress out first.

Dear Tarheel74,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review of the resort. Thank you for your great comments about the resort's location and the spa. We appreciate the feedback regarding your mattress. Next time please just let one of our front desk associates know and we would have been happy to get you in a room with a better mattress. Again, thank you for letting us know and we will most certainly fix it. We hope to see you again on a future trip to Myrtle Beach!
