The hotel was as advertised and very affordable! Very good place to take a family. We ate at the Compass Rose every morning and the buffet was excellent! We also ate at the Crows nest several times and its a good place to grab some lunch and a cocktail!

The only reason that I did not give this hotel a "terrible" is because the children enjoyed the pools and waterslides. It was very difficult to sleep in the room. It just felt dirty. There were drippings down the side of the stove. The appliances were just dirty. The refridgerator was sticky and down right nasty. I would not even let my children eat a bowl of cereal much less cook a meal. The couch and furniture looked like something that came out of a frat house. I was under the impression that the Pinnacle was the "nicest" and most recently renovated building. If this is true, I can only imagine what the other buildings looked like. I stayed in the Deluxe Corner suite on the 5th floor. I really felt like I was staying at a dump motel. I would never stay here again, ever!!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay. We are pleased to hear that your children enjoyed the many amenities we have to offer. We do apologize you did not find this recent experience to be what you hoped for. Our staff works hard to provide the cleanest accommodations for all of our guests and we are sorry we fell short of the mark with you. This not indicative of the typical experience we offer and hope you would consider returning. For any future questions about rooms or rates please contact our Guest Services Manager Steve Showers. From the first problem to the last, it is a very large hotel with a very busy staff. The door lock had to re-programed by maintenance so we could get in to our room. after I had walk down to the front desk to have the keys checked out by the staff, to be told it's the door lock. With 3 women waiting access to the bathroom and waiting for the keys and now maintenance staff, not a good start. The room is dated, think 1990 furniture. The wifi is a joke, again after trying the front desk number for an hour, I walked down to get the log in and pass word, the internet was super slow, I used my 3g. The A/C worked best at 62 degrees to get the room cool. The pools are nice and the towels are good. The walk ways to the buildings cut though most of the pool areas, with a lot of bare feet there should be no smoking throughout those areas, remember this is a family place with a ton of kids running around. The pricing was fair for a holiday weekend, yet there are deals to be had close by.

Room Tip: The newer tower is the best bet.

The hotel was larger than expected, as it spread across three buildings. The parking lot was always crowded and we usually had to park in the deck across the street. The front desk was difficult to find at first as well. Checkin was quick and easy and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is about 2 miles from the boardwalk.

Our room was larger than we expected and included a small kitchen. Our room was on the side of the building, so we had a very nice ocean view. The room was very clean, though old fashioned. The room and the building in general was dated, but a lot of the hotels on the strip are. The restaurant/bar in our building was great. They had daily food and drink specials and the food was much better than expected and the staff was friendly and helpful.

The only downside was when we got locked out of our room. Our key card didn't unlock the door. We had the maid try her key and it didn't work either. She called maintenance and they tried to unlock the door with no luck. They sent another maintenance person with a door unlocking tool and he got us in. They had to replace the lock which took a couple of hours.

The other thing is that the elevators were always slow and crowded.

Overall, good place to stay for a short vacation on a moderate budget.

Booked an ocean front king on 14th floor of Pinnacle building last minute so wasn't fully sure what to expect. It was alright-Certainly nothing special. I felt it was outdated and not as clean as I would have liked, but we weren't in the room much, so it sufficed. Would try somewhere different next time.

My family and I recently stayed at Compass Cove and will stay there again during future visits to Myrtle Beach. It was a place that my husband and I were both able to relax and our two girls (ages 3 and 13) were able to have lots of fun!! The pools were amazing and very entertaining (that's why the adults were able to relax!!). Look forward to a return trip!! :-) The only down side was the long wait for elevators. If you get a room toward the ground level you may want to consider the stairs!!

Room Tip: Choosing a room with a kitchenette was very beneficial for my family! We were able to have breakfas...

We are parents of a 9 year old daughter. We stay at Compass Cove once a year and we always allow our daughter to bring a friend. There are a ton of pools, lazy rivers, water slides, shuffleboard, and so much more. We always grab a drink at the Tiki Bar on our way out to watch the kids play either at the beach or in one d the pools. The resort is so large that you never feel like people are right on top of you. I gave this four stars because our telephone in the room didn't work, and no one ever came to fix it. I also deducted a star because the lines in the lobby were a mile long (out of the door) despite the check in staff working extremely hard. The restaurant workers are awesome too. Shout outs to Jennifer (our waitress) and Jenny (I think was her name) of the front desk. Both were extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us.
