“Keep an eye on your golf clubs!”
Reviewed 28 June 2010

Depending upon who you talk to, the pro shop, the police, or the staff, anywhere from 5 to 15 people have lost their golf clubs to thieves, this year. There are no signs warning you that you should keep an eye on your clubs. There is no sign saying that they will not take responsibility for any loss of property, but they will not take responsibility. There are no working security cameras, but they claim they have plans to install a system sometime in the future. Having a member of my group lose his clubs on the first day of our trip, really put a damper on our enthusiasm. (the pro shop did provide free rental clubs for the remainder of our visit, which we appreciated.)

I just noticed another golfer had his clubs stolen. I'm sad to report the same.

Apparently stealing golf clubs is the "in thing" in Myrtle these days. According to the Pro, Legends alone has had a dozen+ stolen this year. The police report that there has been a rash of thefts up and down the entire strip. What is angering is that there are NO signs at Legends telling people to monitor their clubs due to recent thefts. Worse is that there are no security cameras and Legends refuses to take steps to ensure oversight/security of your equipment. The bag drop at Legends is extremely chaotic and its very easy for anyone to pick up a bag and walk out without anyone noticing - especially since the staff doesn't care and cars are coming/going every morning right near the drop. Its a disgrace. Though the senior management gave me a rental for the weekend - and was very nice/professional - the baggage gorillas at Legends were rude (their behavior was entirely suspicious) and unhelpful. They all want tips and most certainly don't deserve it.

Clearly the word needs to spread for people to be more careful since Myrtle is such a golf hot spot and unscrupulous punks are taking advantage of the chaos of busy courses/resorts.

***
Courses: Moorland is a great course, but I think across the board all of the courses have declined in quality in recent years. Maintenance definitely could be better. However the value for Legends is really quite good....unless you're like me and factoring in the loss of your clubs and equipment (ugh). If you're looking for an alternative, consider Barefoot Landing (but check on their security procedures to see if they are better).

Accommodations - the condos here are very nice and well maintained. The breakfast included in the package is pretty good, though the food selection on sight is rather limited and of mediocre quality.

Location - This is a big negative if you ask me. Legends is a bit of a drive into the main strip and is simply surrounded by fast food chains.

Getting from airport - Legends has a deal with a taxi service for reduced fare from the airport. Call them and schedule in advance.

Stayed at the course. Arrived at the bag dropped, club employee removed clubs from my car, said go have breakfast when you are ready to play your clubs will be here. WRONG!
Finished breakfast and when I returned my clubs were gone. It seems two set of clubs were stolen that morning. Legends accepted no repsonsibility, NONE, even though the club employee took them from my car (looking for a tip).
the clubs, bag and GPS were gone. Legends says the ticket says they were not responsible. Bull#$%&!
They need a better system of protecting their customers clubs.

Just spent 5 days at Legends for a golf getaway with the lads. Besides for the 3 pm check-in there were no complaints from any ov the group. The clubhouse has a fine pub - fare style menu and there were many perks for the guests including a full breakfast buffet every morning , and lunch the days you the days you played golf.

The golf was on the 3 on-property courses was excellent with well maintained fairways and greens.

For a group of guys going to Myrtle Beach you can't do much better than this. Two beds in each bedroom which makes comfort and space a non-issue. Be aware it is about 5 miles inland from the beach but short drive to places like Broadway at the Beach. Comfortable, basic condo lodging. Will be back!

I have organized our yearly golf trip now for 15 years. We have gone to the Legends 9 times out of those 15 years, spending about $72,000. A loyal customer you would think. But this year I got home and found a $125 dollar charge on my card for a damaged front door. Our door would not close and lock when we arrived. We tried to call housekeeping but playing 36 holes we would finish after housekeeping closed at 4:30pm. We are all professionals and have never been less than responsible. I called the Legends several times to ask for a credit but was refused. Finally, I got it escalated to the owner and his response was to have my lawyer call his. I will never go to legends ever again. This is how they treat their best customers. Please select another option.

In a nutshell these accommodations are for a men's only golf holiday. The rooms feature 15+year old plumping fittings, appliances, & quite possibly, carpet.

Our group booked into 6 of the 2 bedroom 2 bath 'villas' which are privately owned but managed by the Legends. My unit was on the 2nd floor. Our introduction to the extremely poor condition of the unit were the carpeted stairs which were filthy with ground in dirt & large debris that the vacuum didn't get. Upstairs, the carpet was in the same condition with the added interest of ravelling seams. The furniture was well worn with stains here & there. The kitchen was poorly equipped so if you are planning on doing much of anything in the kitchen be sure to bring your own knives, wine glasses, corkscrew, or anything you will absolutely have to have.

All of this probably doesn't much matter to a group of guys booked in here to take advantage of the 3 golf courses. Which also a contributing factor to why the units are maintained the way they are. But it is surprising that the TVs are not updated & there is no wifi - bring your ethernet cord.

Also, the management is not really on top of things with groups. Double check all of your plans that require the resort to provide any type of extra services.
