“Another great stay at this excellent resort.”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

Another great stay on this property is concluding tonight. This time, and for the second time we are staying at the Royal Palms condos in Kingston Plantation.. It was only my wife and i this trip so we were looking for smaller accommodations this time. The Royal Palms was the trick. This property has many 2-4 bedroom condos to rent. What we did not know is that they also have regular sized hotel rooms. All the rooms have ocean views and all are with king size beds. At 219 a night plus tax, it was a bargain for such a nice location. Especially on Memorial day weekend. When you stay at the Kingston Plantation, you have access to the whole resort and properties including the Hilton hotel with its restaurants and pools as well as the Embassy suites. The pool at the Palms is very nice but is shaded by the building in the afternoon. This is very nice for kids and fold wanting to swim out of the hot sun. If you are a sun worshiper, just take the very short walk next door to the Hilton and its 3 pools and cabana. They are all in the sun all day. There are quite a few lounge chairs around its lush tropical area. We found a spot away form the hustle bustle behind the cabana on a deck next to the beach. We could lounge with the ocean in site but not have to deal with the sand or renting chairs at the beach. Waiters came by to take our order if we wanted anything and there were umbrellas if you want shade. The cabana bar serves all the normal and some abnormal tropical drinks. Pricing seemed a little high but hey its the beach and your at the Hilton. We ate breakfast at the Hilton s Breakfast buffet. It was pricey at 15.00 per but the food was very good and the selection large. They custom cook omelettes and waffles as well as eggs if you do not want them scrambled. there is juice and fruit, all part of the buffet. The restaurant overlooks the ocean and pool naturally. There are complimentary towels at the pool so no need to bring your own. There was a fantastic live band playing this weekend and many people danced at the pool. We had lunch at the cabana one day. We had burgers and fried potato chips. The burger was good but the chips were fantastic. They were fried crisp and served with a onion dip. The next day we ate their barbecue cookout lunch special. 16.00 per person. They had a choice of a quarter rack of ribs or a half BBQ chicken. We selected one of each. They also had sides of grilled corn on the cob, coleslaw and potato salad. The chicken was pretty good. Te ribs were cooked well nut the portion was small and the dry rub they used was not to my liking. I would have preferred no rub or basted with a sauce.
They served a sauce in the side that was just OK, nothing special. The potato salad was awful in my opinion. It was made with way too much mustard. The coleslaw was good. It was not too sweet and not too tangy. I thought the price paid was too high for the quality of the meal.
Too sum up, we find this resort to be the best in North Myrtle. There is beach activity, tennis, their own golf course, as well as restaurants. You are still just a very short drive from Barefoot Landing, and only 20 minutes from Calabash. I would highly recommend this resort for couples and family s.

Room Tip: Royal Palms has single king rooms to rent as well as larger condos.

I visited the Kingston Plantation for a conference and stayed at the Brighton. My family and I stay here every summer but have never stayed in these condos. I was very impressed. We stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean view condo. It was very spacious and clean. The only issue was the light in the master bathroom was out. The breakfast over at the Embassy Suites needs beefing up. I would like to see egg whites on the menu.

There are a few things you MUST know about Kingston Plantation before you go. We go down at least 1 or 2 times per year. I never really wanted to go to Myrtle Beach for a long weekend with my husband and son but my husband assured me I would enjoy it and I do. We have stayed in the Margate Oceanfront and Oceanview, Windemere by the sea, The Hilton Hotel, Richmond (by the Lagoon) and SOUTH HAMPTON a high rise hotel on the beach that I would never step foot in again. DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY OLD HIGHRISE.

A must is going down to the Hilton Hotel and hanging out at the pool. It is open to Kingston Plantation guests and you can charge to your room. They have a pool side bar and servers, so you get that resort feel. I like being at the Hilton Hotel Pool better than the Embassy suites.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for at Kingston Plantation. If you picked an Ocean Front room that is the least expensive offered THEN DON'T SET YOUR EXPECTATIONS TOO HIGH! That is the rule of thumb with most of the oceanfront/oceanview rooms. I did enjoy our condo in Richmond, which is not in the beach part of the community, the only thing I didn't like here is that it was so far away from all the activities but the condo was very clean and a fair price. If you don't mind driving down to the beach some of these units might be a good fit for a more economical visit to Kingston.

1. Not all condos are created equally. Especially the privately owned condos, we have experienced that they are always clean but some of the decor/quality is drastically different. For example, we rented (at the same time) a 3 bedroom ocean front and a 4 bedroom ocean view at Margate. The ocean front was BEAUTIFUL, granite counter tops the whole 9. Amazing view of ocean etc. The ocean view was what we called the Romper Room, tacky furniture, no frills and part of the view looked down onto a camping ground. We had lots of kids with us on this vacation so the families with the kids stayed in Romper Room. Even with the Romper room the margate was fantastic. Limited access to building to outsiders, quiet pool, etc.

2. There are newer building and older buildings. The older buildings, especially some of the ocean front high rises are dirty and rundown. They have much older buildings that have no frills.

3. Windemere by the Sea is our favorite, with close proximity to the water park and ocean. The only thing we don't like about Windemere is that some of the units the is blocked out by the high rise towers. But we like the layout of the condo and cleanliness.

4. Margate is out second favorite but it can be pricey in the summertime.

5. We have heard the Royal Palms are nice condos but we have never stayed in them. They are located right next to the Hilton Hotel.

I hope this was helpful.

This venue has everything!!! The facility is fresh, exciting and is centrally located to all parts of Myrtle Beach. You have an outlet mall within a half mile for the front gate. Lots of restaurants ranging from seafood, steaks, fast foods within a half mile of the Kingston. The ocean is front and centered to your hotel. If you do not enjoy swimming in the ocean, you have your choice of two swimming pools on site. Free breakfest in the mornings and walks or runs throughout the resort site. The Kingston/Hilton Resort is my choice when I visit Myrtle Beach. try it, you'll love this place!

"Minimal housekeeping"!!! I didn't receive any info beforehand but it was posted on a little magnet on the fridge. You will be lucky if you get that. Shabby little room with a poor view of the roof next door. No table or desk. Smelly elevator. Key card didn't work. Staff at registration desk in Embassy Suites could not answer simple questions such as "what is the lounge on the second floor" - knew nothing about it!!

Nice place but South Hampton is NOT!

Room Tip: Ask to see the room before you accept it and look under the bed.

We travelled to MB as a group of 8 guys on a golfing holiday. We were booked in the Kingston plantations as part of our package. We had 2 self contained condos. The check in at the main reception was quick and staff were very friendly. The condos were great, 3 large bedrooms 2 singles and a twin room, each with en-suite bathrooms. Large living room and a good size kitchen. Covered balcony is really nice in the morning/evening to sit out in. Perfect for families during hot summer months on a beach holiday, also perfect for golfers as its situated at very start of North MB, (perfect for north MB courses, close to Dunes & grand dunes golf clubs). There is a supermarket near by for supplies, did not try any other of the complex amenities as we golfed every day and eat out every night. We will stay there again next year as the accommodation was first class.
I have been travelling to MB for golf for 7-8 years and its the best accommodation I have stayed in.
