“You can't go wrong with SeaWatch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2008

We booked our Seawatch vacation based upon what read here on Tripadvisor so we figured that we would also write a review. We have stayed at many Myrtle Beach Hotels that have suffered from damp, dank smells that seem to be a regular byproduct of the Oceanfront location. Seawatch was perfect in that respect, the rooms are clean, fresh, perfectly A/C'd, and housekeeping was wonderful. The price was very reaasonable too, a 2 bedroom unit with breakfast for under $200. I will say that the North Tower is nicer than the South Tower because it has a Lobby while the South Tower does not. Also, the North Tower has internal elevators while the South has you walking to your room in exposed weather. In regards to Lobby (or lack thereof) we have stayed at beautiful Marriotts before where the opulent Lobbies were a pleasure to sit in and watch the vacationers come and go - Seawatch only has a simple Lobby and it is only in the North Tower. One thing that I didn't like about Seawatch's beach is that the Lifeguard is also the Chair Rental guy! It is a joke to see the Lifeguard disappear for 5 to 10 minutes at a time as he drags over chairs and umbrellas (a very bad idea). Every other staff member at Seawatch was lovely and helpful and willing to do just about anything to make you happy. Someone does a great job inspiring these folks because they are just so nice! The only thing that I would add about Seawatch is that it is more of a timeshare place than Hotel / Resort.... hence the lobby and beach are simpler than what expected, and there was really no place to eat within walking distance of the place (you need your car for everything). For us, the best things about Myrtle Beach were Seawatch and the Carolina Opry (OMG - magnificent!)

Check-in was fast and friendly. Entire suite was spic & span upon check-in. Housekeeping was perfect. No problems all week.

We stayed in 3BR, 3Ba Villas suite with spectacular view of Ocean and the resort's grounds/pools from a huge balcony. Loved the free covered parking right next to elevators. With 5 pools and 2 "lazy rivers", we could visit a different one each day. Full kitchen allowed us to save money by cooking our own breakfast and lunches.

Only minor negative was that the WiFi internet was not free in suites, although it was free to use in the Registration Building. We later received literature from Wyndham that the WiFi will be free this year (2008) in all of the suites.

We'll be back again in 2008!

  • Liked — Everthing! Especially location with sun, sand, ocean and pools!
  • Disliked — Had to pay for in-suite internet; free internet was a walk to the Registration Bldg.

Just got back from our second family vacation at the SeaWatch. (Me, my wife, our two children, and my mother-in-law). We were there from 6/15-22.

After our first one two years ago, we were so impressed that we bought into the Wyndham Vacation Club (then it was Fairfield) to be able to stay there every year.

After vacationing last year at the Wyndham Ocean Boulevard (see review) we were glad to be back!!

This year we stayed on the 19th floor of the North Tower. What a view! We had a 3-bedroom lockout unit, which is a 2-bedroom and an ajoining 1-bedroom with a connectiing inner door.

The unit was absolutely fantastic, as expected. King size beds, flat screen televisions in every room, arctic air conditioning, and DVD players/CD players/Stereos galore!

The pools, lazy rivers, and hot tubs were great after a long day on the beach. The old complaints about people reserving pool chairs with towels early in the morning seemed to be a non-issue now. I actually went out on the balcony a couple of days to see if I could observe this happening. The security guards always seemed to be in the pool area making sure this wasn't going on, and that those in the pool area belonged to the SeaWatch. This was a nice touch, and they were always very personable and friendly to talk to while at the pool.

We visited the Ice Cream Shop and the Gift Shop-conveinence store multiple times. The people working there always had a smile and a kind word ready for every customer.

As others have mentioned, the parking at the resort is always plentiful. After the parking nightmare known as the Wyndham Ocean Boulevard, it was very nice to know that there would always be plenty of parking available after going out on a daytrip, or for the evening. Parking was obviously well-planned for when this resort was built.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this resort, or the employees that work for it. It is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, and all of the employees are very nice.

The one negative you will encounter comes if you are a Wyndham owner. If you are, I am probably singing to the choir. Once you check in you are sent to another desk "to get your parking permit". Yep, you owners know what's coming next. The person giving you your permit will attempt to sign you up to attend a meeting that you and your spouse both "have to attend". What do you do with your children during this meeting? Dunno - they fail to mention that. But they will use every phrase under the sun that they can think of to make you think that this meeting is mandatory. They have even started "pre-gifting" you in an attempt to pressure you to attend this sales pitch "meeting". You will be offered tickets to a local attraction that they will attempt to bill you for if you don't show up for your "meeting", not to mention the endless phone calls to your room if you are a no-show.

Just grab your parking permit, say "not interested", and run for the car.

This negative will only be suffered through if you are a Wyndham owner, or guest of one.

Absolutely none of this reflects poorly upon the SeaWatch resort or it's employees. They are all top-notch and really know how to run a family-friendly vacation destination. We are already booked in a 3-bedroom villa for next year, and are counting the days until we get to go back.

Of course, I will have a nice new pair of running shoes to wear for picking up my parking permit.

  • Liked — It is always a great vacationing environment
  • Disliked — Attempts at pressure sales

I was very fortunate to come across this timeshare that the owner could not use this year. All I can say is my whole family absolutely loved this resort. From check-in to check-out, I give this resort an A+. We stayed in villa I, 4th floor, which had a great view of the ocean, the lagoon and some of the pools. (The villas are behind the two tower hotels and all have view of the ocean). This unit must have been recently updated. . It was a 2 bedroom, master had a king and other bedroom had 2 doubles, couch pulled out to a queen. All mattresses seemed brand new and very comfortable. This unit had 3 flat screen tvs. We were spoiled with that. Kitchen was updated and very clean as was the whole unit. All kitchen necessities were provided and were in great shape. Remember to bring things from your own kitchen so you don't have to buy it at the supermarket (spices, cereal, napkins, etc.) A small washer and dryer combo was a plus. Although it was much smaller than a family of 5 is used to, I just did smaller loads throughout week. All employees were extremely friendly and helpful. The pools were cleaned daily. I recommend placing towels out early if you want a pool side chair. At the north tower a DJ is there on Tue and Thur. That pool gets a little crazy those days. There is 5 pools so everyone seemed spaced out. The ocean is a step away. Water conditions were perfect 86 deg and very clean. My kids would go back and forth from pool to ocean. The lazy rivers, one under each tower, are small but the kids used them. The hot tubs were great. There is a very small mini mart in the south tower. Way over priced and there is not much there. Many food stores close by . Ice cream shop in North Tower. Kids went there and said it was really good.

I don't know how the 2 towers are in comparison to the villa we stayed in. I highly recommend the villas at the SeaWatch though. We look forward to staying there again.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom in the north tower and rented through a private owner. It was the perfect size for our family of 4. The north tower is action central. They have a DJ every Tues and Thurs during the season which was a blast for everyone! The beach had easy access and there was plenty of beach for everyone!
This was our first trip to MB and I think we chose well with Seawatch. It was very clean and not overly crowded. It is between North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach and has easy access to all the attractions. The staff were all very polite. The kids enjoyed some activities at the Wyndham activities center. We would stay here again!

We stayed at the Seawatch on an RCI exchange. Really liked the location. We had a 1 bedroom condo in the south tower. The furniture was a bit dated, but the place was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was great. Two things important to us when we travel. Plenty of pools to choose from and most are heated. The staff was friendly and helpful when answering questions. We didn't eat at the restaurant on the grounds. Others we talked to said that the food was good. The Seawatch is really close to restaurants, Tanger Outlets and other shopping. Make sure to eat at Hamburger Joes and Duffy Street Seafood Shack. We were there during bike week, but had no issues other than the traffic. Took a day trip to Charleston and really worth the drive. All in all, we went to Hilton Head last year and will probably go back before visiting Myrtle Beach again.

  • Liked — Clean units and friendly staff.
  • Disliked — Furniture could use some updating.

My family and I have stayed at the SeaWatch every February for the last 3 years when I have been in Myrtle Beach for a business conference. Each year, I consistently find that they willingly accomodate my requests (which included an early check-in last year) and the staff is very friendly and helpful from the time I make the reservation through check-out.

Perhaps most importantly of all, the rooms we've been in have always been immaculate and well-maintained! I cannot stay comfortably in a hotel that looks like it is not cleaned well (I look at the baseboards and corners), and most hotels are not diligent about this. The SeaWatch rooms are very, very clean, brightly decorated, and just allow for a pleasant and relaxing experience.

The wait and cook staff in the hotel restaurant are so friendly also - we highly recommend the breakfast buffet that has everything you want (including a cook-to-order omelet/waffle station).

The SeaWatch has become our Myrtle Beach "home away from home," and we will not stay anywhere else.
