“You Must Go Here !”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

It was fortunate that we made a dinner reservation. This is an extremely popular place!! Here's why: 1) the service and staff are impeccable. The gaucho-clad waiters are friendly, efficient and appropriately chatty. They help you get items that have not been offered including, for us, rotisserie pineapple served by using your tongs to grab slices off of the whole pineapple on a skewer. Fabulous! Don't miss it. And sausages that were a bit light on flavor but good.
2) the salad bar is extensive and fresh! The grilled asparagus, a staple at high quality Brazilian BBQ restaurants was wonderful. You will find anything you want and some items you didn't know you wanted.
3)appe"teasers" are brought immediately to the table upon bring seated. They included
tiny, buttery popovers, fried polenta, and sautéed sweet plantains. MmmmMmm good.
4) the extensive choices of skewered meats were hot, rich and plentiful. And they kept coming as long as the green side of your chit was face-up. Some items were a bit fatty and not always as rare as I prefer. Nitpicking. It was mostly awesomely flavorful, quality cuts.
You may wish to resist the desserts. They are extra cost, expensive and commercial grade offerings. The flan had a thick cakey texture rather than the rich, smooth custardy texture we make at home.

Be prepared to spend some serious money. This is not an inexpensive venue at $45 or so per person. This does not include beverages or desserts. Go anyway. It's worth every dollar. But go hungry!! And leave happy !!

“Go hungry!”

My family and I make sure to stop here everytime we come to Myrtle Beach! We love the Brazilian Steakhouse theme and the salad bar has sushi (and other delicious items). We do tend to hold out for the nicer cuts of meat but the House Sirloin is amazing too. I like that you can ask the Server to send a certain type of meat over, if you haven't been offered it in a while. My daughter and myself as sad to learn that the Mahi has been taken out of the rotation. LOVE the Sangria cart that is brought and made tableside. Also, much cheaper than other similar Brazilian Steakhouses. Must try!! If you are a meat eater!

“expensive, average tasting food”
Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

Restaurant was very busy with a minimal wait. Very nice atmosphere with very good food presentation. Excellent service. The food, however, wasn't anything. special. The filet was tasteless and a little dry. The servers brought every selection of meat to our table, but I didn't have anything that I thought was exceptional. For $36.00 a person, I expected better taste and quality. I consider Rioz a classy buffet. Not worth the price if you value quality over quantity.

“Mostly good but a couple of issues”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

If you've been to a Brazilian Steakhouse and liked it, then you'll probably like Rioz. It is exactly like all the others I've been too.

Instead of spending a lot of time talking about what a Brazilian Steakhouse is - you can find out from other reviews or their website - I'd like to give you a couple of warnings. They're not gamechangers but they're the reason that I knocked a star off the review.

First is the wait. I made reservations for 5:45. We arrived at 5:40. We were seated after 6:30. I don't mind a bit of a wait (or a long one without reservations) but if they can't meet reservations, they shouldn't take them. I've no doubt that if we'd shown up 50 minutes late, they would have told us that our reservations were forfeit but it's ok for them to make US wait for 50 minutes. This is pretty uncool.

The second issue is that you need to talk to the servers who are bringing around the meat if you want your meat cooked a certain way. Like many Brazilian Steakhouses, some of the meats are cooked more than others. The Garlic Beef - although delicious - was medium well if not well done. Most of the times the servers will ask how you like your meat and cut from a part of the cut that is more or less well done for you. There's nothing wrong with the meat - just communicate with the server. The pork tenderloin was so well done, it was a little hard to eat and the garlic beef was the same.

That said, the flank steak (which is usually cooked fairly thoroughly) was still delicious and it was not difficult at all to get filet medium rare or even rare.

Just wanted to point these issues out - if you know what they are, you can try to mitigate them.

By the way, the little one (3 years old) had an absolute BALL flipping over his little card and having things cut onto his plate. Being able to eat with tongs just made him the HAPPIEST kid ever. Needless to say, his mother just ate off his plate instead of getting anything of her own. So glad we didn't order off the children's menu for him...

“A Meat Delight”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We made reservations, yes reservations at Rioz and were really glad we had a reservation as it decreased the wait time to nothing. We sat only to order our drinks and then we shuffled off to the salad bar. The salad bar experience is a little phrenetic, as it is one giant circle of people with no designated "entrance". It was like an adult ring around the rosy as people seemed to pick areas to sneak into line only to be faced with starting at the "salad dressing" while the actual salad and fixings were at the opposite side of the circle. Don't worry, everyone is perplexed by this design, take it in stride and go with the flow, rather the orbit, until you have hit every station. Back at the table, we were immediately immersed into meat mania. The little red/green disks did little to stop each and every gaucho from stopping at our table to "peddle" his wares. Waving them away for the time being, we all raved about the excellent tidbits we pulled from the salad bar. The shrimp, the cheese, the different salads, sushi... Quail eggs? We all agreed the salad bar was amazing. Finally, we all agreed that it was ample time to grab a clean plate and start with the meats! We all set out to try at least a little bite of everything and man, that was tough. From lamb chops to garlic steak to bacon wrapped filet, we sampled and sampled and sampled until we thought we would all pop. With the exception of the beef ribs, we sampled everything and could not agree unanimously on a favorite. Even the grilled pineapple was amazing. In fact, we all agreed that it would have been a mistake to skip the pineapple. Try it. It is ama-zing! Another tip? Grab a free dessert coupon out of the MB coupon books. Even if you can't eat it then and you probably won't be able to, the desserts are wonderful! Pricey? Yes, Rioz is on the expensive side. Meal for the money? Yes, yes it is worth it. We would go again.
