If you want to be over the open ocean, visit the pier and be sure to bring your fishing pole. The sunset is beautiful as you enjoy the breezes.

While we were staying in North Myrtle Beach, we wanted to get out and sight see for a little while. It's rather strange to me, that driving the main drag in Myrtle Beach / North Myrtle Beach, there is very little view of the ocean! Apache Pier wasn't super crowded, and it was affordable (I believe $5 to park and $1 per person to go out on the pier). It was neat getting the view of the mainland from the pier (made for some nice photo ops). There were also many fishermen on the pier the day we went. There were fishermen catching Ribbon Fish, which I had never see before. There was also someone that had a fish on the line, and we witnessed a shark jump out of the water and take the fish. The pass is good all day (they stamp your hand after you pay).

You can never predict how fish will bite, but the pier is long enough that you can try plenty of spots. Price isn't bad for rods and reels rentals. Don't look for shade except for a section near the middle. There are ramps for wheelchairs should you need.

The campground was very clean, had a nice pull through site next to the beach, reasonably priced, friendly staff and the beach is wonderful! Can't wait to go back.

I have been going to Myrtle beach for 30 years and I have walked on the beach under the Apache pier a hundred times, never thinking of going on it. Last week while walking with my wife I said to her, exactly that. She said, lets go on it so we did. It cost's 1 dollar to go onto the pier, wow, when was the last time something cost just a dollar. there is a restaurant, an arcade, real nice people working there. We walked all the way to the end of the pier where we saw the "professional" fisherman. They had rigs I've never seen and they were really into it with their equipment etc. Within 15 mins we heard the reel on one of the poles go crazy and for 20 mins we watched this guy trying to maneuver around and land whatever it was on his hook. We finally got to see a shark on the end of the line but as most fish stories go, it go way when the line rapped around one of the pilings. It was great though, it was interesting . a hundred people fishing, plenty of room everyone friendly. Great place to bring kids to watch They rent poles and bait in u want to try your luck
