Our problems with the Hilton Grand Vacation Club (HGVC) go WAY beyond Anderson Ocean Club. We ended up at this resort beause it had the only three-bedroom unit we could get through the HGVC. We were promised this would never be the case. The location of this hotel is great, right on the beach. We had room 1604 and the view was terrific. The valet staff was a great group of guys and they were very helpful and efficient. That is about all the positive I can say. Our room was unfinished, kitchen cabinets missing, wire closet shelving loose and falling off the wall, no shelf in master bath shower for soap so it had to lay on the floor all week. Just not up to Hilton standards. For the price, this is all inexcusable.

The poor area is inconveniently located through the valet parking garage. Someone is bound to get seriously hurt by simply walking to the pool from the lobby. The pools are so small that the only thing they are good for is a quick dip to get wet. Our kids were bored in one day, thank God for the beach and the mini-golf acoss the street. The staff member at the towel station was rude and largely unaccommodating. The front desk crew was not much better. No restaurant on the premises either.....not typical for HGVC.

When we purchased Hilton Grand Vacation we expected Hilton quality. This hotel is anything but Hilton quality. If you are thinking about purchasing HGVC please do your research and think twice. Be sure you understand all the rules, regulations and restrictions that come with this program before spending your hard-earned money on this vacation club. Each and every time we go to use our points there is some type of "catch" that prevents us from being able to book where we want to go. Caveat Emptor!

Room Tip: Book a high room for the best view.

Dear Hilton Grand Vacation Owner,

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay.

Let me apologize for any short comings you experienced during your stay. Also, the unit you stayed in was a “handicapped accessible” unit which may have given the impression of being unfinished or cabinets missing. We will follow up on the other issues in the room immediately to ensure they have been addressed.

We do truly value your business, especially as one of our Hilton owners. The next time your travel plans call for you to be in the Myrtle Beach area, please contact me directly so I may personally see after your arrangements.

Warm regards,

Raymond Harter, CHA
General Manager

August trip - our first as a family to Myrtle Beach. We stayed with Anderson and it was great! We liked being on the beach and it was close to everything we wanted to do. The pool area can get crazy with kids, but I guess that can be expected with a lot of families there. It made it hard to enjoy the "Lazy River", so don't hold out hope that you will relax there - otherwise, everything was very nice.

Each and every staff member we met was very friendly. Many asked if we were enjoying our visit or where we were from, etc. The rooms were beautiful and the view great (even from our side rooms). We will return!

Room Tip: Either side of the hotel offered a great view of the beach along the coast!

Stayed at Anderson 8/12-8/19. We started with a two bedroom on the 9th floor but decided we needed a three bedroom. Request was granted fairly quickly. We were relocated to 2nd floor. Not as cool on that floor; actually pretty warm. Master bedroom with ocean front nice but warm despite AC adjustments. It was in the back of the unit. Our unit had washer and dryer which was a life saver for our family. The furniture dated...( not luxury furniture)

Beach was right outside our door...because we were on 2nd floor...it was so close to the pool and sunbathers. When sitting on our patio we felt like we were stalking them because our patio was literally right above ( one level up) it. Certainly would not stay on 2nd floor again..

Itailian ice bar at pool area. ...that was nice. Drinks from the bar was so watered down. Please ask for NO ICE!! Russian speaking attendants.

Despite the above items listed above this was a nice stay for our family of four. Everyone had their own private area and space. ...but it was not a luxury unit ....Premium perhaps but not luxury.

Room Tip: Try to avoid 2nd floor unless you don't mind coming out on your patio eating breakfast with sunb...

Stayed the week of Aug 12-18, 2012, our first trip back to Myrtle Beach in more than 10yrs, we had a 1 bedroom on the 6th floor at Andersons and were extremey pleased with the resort. The location was the best, close to everything, but far enough from the crazyness of the blvd. The only reason that Iowered my rating from perfect to very good was, the carpeting in the room needed cleaned badly, lots of stains and dirt and the swimming pools needed updated, but was still nice enough to enjoy when coming back from the beach. Kitchen was well equiped (need a blender in the rooms), I did not see one bug in our room (bed bug or roaches) over the years Ive stayed at many hotels in Myrtle Beach and I always seemed to run into some type of bug at these hotels- not this one. The staff was extremely nice and helpful when we needed assistance. I would certainly stay at Anderson's again, I would say its my favorite out of the 10 other resorts that Ive stayed at in Myrtle Beach.

Had an absolute blast last week! Right on the ocean, and the weather was almost perfect. The hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating, and very attentive when my daughter was scraped by the waves (minor abrasion - watch out for the waves at high tide!). The pools are small and busy, but we had no trouble finding lounge chairs. The room was great; large and updated. The kitchen was well-equipped, although we could have used more cleaning supplies (ended up wasting some when we left). Most restaurants deliver to the hotel, but room service would have been nice too. The only significant complaint I have is about the wireless Internet. It has to be the absolute worst I have seen in all my travels, and I travel a lot. The wired connection was fine, but we could not get our devices connected to the wireless network. The documentation was incorrect, and support was no help. In the end, because I was on vacation I didn't mind, but with two teenagers, it was rough on them. It would not keep us from staying there again, but they should definitely look into the problem. All in all we had a great stay during our first trip to Myrtle Beach!

Room Tip: Don't know if you need to go the extra expense for the larger balcony.
